How the hell can Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles be an alien race? lol

When you see this movie, kids are going to believe one day these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.

I think the movie comes out late December. If it's using real actors, I'll go an see it with the girls. The whole "ooze" thing was cool and it's silly to stray from that. It'll be interesting to see how the alien race plays out. I'm guessing The Shredder must be from an alien race too then.

lol this is getting funny

I'm surprised the studio didn't just take the original and make it 3-D to make a quick buck.

Speaking of 3D 'reboot' for a quick buck, Titanic in 3D in a couple weeks, lol.

I remember when the turtles first came to our Saturday morning tv screen. (Actually it may have first aired on Sunday mornings.)

My son loved to get up early to watch cartoons. I got up and went to check on him. I stood there and watched the show for a few minutes trying to decide what the heck he was watching. I walked back down the hall trying to remember the name of the program.

My wife asked me what he was watching. I told her she wouldn't believe it. It is something about turtles who have mutated and I think they are now teenagers. There is something else they do but I can't remember. She said really, that sounds kind of stupid. I said yeah you know how far cartoons have fallen these days. This thing won't last very long.

I walked back out to the living room came back and said oh yeah they are ninjas too. She laughed and said I was just making this all up.

I think they changed the time it was aired after it became a little more popular. My son use to go crawl into our bed on Saturday mornings and watch it with my wife after I got up and went to the office. The bond between the two them and TMNT is strong. Along with X Men which came on afterward. My wife and son talk about the bastardization of the original story line of the two shows all the time.

I'm probably going too deep with this, but part of the whole ooze transforming them from little turtles into large upright standing turtles who could learn to speak and fight for 'justice' ... was a message that you should always try to make the most out of any situation and even with being "mutated" you could still be loved and make a difference in peoples lives.

Personally, the whole Alien to Earth as a "savior" type storyline was done already. (see, Superman) but since Superman is being rebooted by Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay had to flip the Turtles story line, I guess.

Not just Superman. Transformers fall into the same story line. In a left handed way the Silver Surfer qualifies. I am sure there are others as well.

I remember, though, my dad catching a bit of it and having the exact same response as you. 'WTF?!' He asked my step-mom what the hell I was watching and she told him, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. He didn't believe her.. It just was too damn ridiculous. lol Then he heard me singing the tune to the show (Heroes in a half-shell, TURTLE POWER!!) and just lol'd.

To this day, whenever my family sees anything that may connect to TMNT, they have to notify me.

Oh, they DID change the air time after they became popular.. It moved to an after school time slot.

Oh noz.. not the turtles. [aiee]

Seriously.. you have people upset over the back story of a film in which they will claim a form of sodomy.

Really?

The world we live in..

And more on topic with Michael Bay.. He's getting a SHITTON of backlash (or Blowback for my fellow Ron Paulians, lol) and released a statement,

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

Michael Bay wrote:

I'll give Bay a pass until I can watch the film and make my decision then. Lets not forget TMNT was first a comic before the cartoon. The real-time movies from the 90's actually slaughtered the original plot and I don't see people up in arms about that..

Anyway, the guy claiming sodomy on our childhood is a silly bitch. He forgot how badly his movies raped both the cartoons AND the comics plot (Splinter was never a rat practicing the 'art of ninja' as the first movie tells us).
