Well I suppose that would depend on what you consider "useless".

My take. I am usually pretty skeptical about bringing in players because it is a crap shoot usually that some other teams cast offs are better than our backups.

This is one I think has promise. I can't say I know the kid and how good he is, and under the circumstances, I don't care. SF while not great, had a solid defense and Lewis even as of now is listed #1 on SF depth. That has good odds of him being better than Martin and Peprah.

This is a move I really don't understand unless this is a planned release/resign move to mess with a contract or get around teh 53man limit.

This kind of player speculation isn't worth our time unless the Packers reported to be bringing in this player. Otherwise it's all useless chatter.

Wtf, who made you king?

Anyway, I say sign him(or someone like him) because while it may take him a bit to get the defense, we still have a hole to fill, and like what was just said, no guarantees Atari comes back on time and 100%.

Sign someone. Train them. Cuz Martin won't cut it.

I think martin is a good backup and could fill in pretty good for us untill we sign someone.Never thought he was bad this year he is a great ST player he looks like he got better in coverage, give him a shot man I think he could surprise us.

Rabid-Why not talk about bringing someone in who cares? Its not like we are telling Ted Thompson to bring him in lol.But just the idea of bringing him in.It brings up a good conversation. Why not talk about other guys when are starting SS is out for the season? For example when Ryan grant went down people made threads about trading rumors for Marshawn Lynch,DeAngello Williams,Hell even Brandon Jacobs. My point is these conversations are good discussions about the possibility of bringing people in its fun actually.

I think that the very least we have to mitigate our criticism of Martin. When he was called into the starting position last season he was joining a new defense with new terminology. Yes, he had 3-4 experience, but that's not quite enough to expect big things from him. What exactly was the grace period between being a Raven and starting for the Packers? I don't know offhand -- but I promise you it wasn't long at all. When Bigby returned and improved things defensively -- woala -- the script was written: Derrick Martin is a hack, he can't cut it, he's a liability.

Nevertheless, he made the team as a special teams stalwart and has a whole extra year (and an actual offseason) developing within the system.

I don't think he'll set the world on fire. Likewise, I don't think we'll see a precipitous dropoff in performance. I mean, we did just lose a starter. Most times things don't improve.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I think the biggest loss here is that Burnett made a lot of calls at safety, so we simply can't just sign someone off the street to come and take his spot. We need someone that knows our system.

In a few weeks we'll most likely get Harris and Bigby, albeit not at full strength. We also might have a chance to sign Blackmon back depending on his injury (and settlement) status. Overall I don't see us signing anyone. If we do I actually think we might sign a CB because we can move Bush out to S and a CB doesn't have as big of an impact on decisions and alignments as a S.

Sorry, I was just being an ass. In one sense it really is futile to talk about it because we're not in a position to do anything about it. On the other hand it's fun (and harmless) for some people.

Since this team seems to be poised for a Super Bowl run I think Ted might want to cough up one of his draft picks and trade for a good safety. We can't just let this potential Super Bowl year slip past us.

beast (53m) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (54m) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (10h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (10h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (13h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (13h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (14h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you
wpr (14h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (14h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (14h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (15h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (15h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (15h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (16h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (16h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (16h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
