While I'm obviously disappointed, this wasn't a "we're freakin' doomed" loss that I was going to make it out to be.
I am on the boat that thinks it's a blessing in disguise.
But I'm also on the boat that wishes we had a historic 19-0 season.
As for my analysis. Aaron Rodgers hasn't been that hot over the passed two weeks. Yes, we basically sat on Oakland's face, but after Aaron threw TD39, he started to go on incompletion streaks. The same thing happened today. Either Greg Jennings really makes this offense THAT much better, or teams are playing better against us. What's even more annoying is that teams are playing MAN. Last I checked, our receivers LOVED to play against man.
Of course, his less-than-ideal play is also due to drops by receivers...mainly TE Jermichael Finley. I'm a Finley apologist, but goddamn man.
What hurts the most to me? Well, when Kyle Orton played for Purdue, I wanted him to be the successor to Brett Favre. Played with so much smarts and won a lot of games. When Purdue started to dismantle, his draft stock went down, which I thought made it possible for the Packers to take him.
But we didn't need to take him... because we got Aaron Rodgers in the first round of that same draft.
I'm not saying I wanted Orton more than Rodgers. Definitely not. But I've always been a fan of the man.
And now, because of his record against the Packers... I have to hate him. Hate him because I knew he'd be better than the seemingly average quarterback.
