This seems like an article nermann would have wrote or at least enjoyed.

Now, even on an undefeated team, there could be a role for someone who was on the practice squad a month ago.

The core of this team is set. The Packers probably will go as far as MVP front-runner Aaron Rodgers takes them. But there was one common thread on the last two Super Bowl teams here. Both the 1996 and 2010 Green Bay teams boasted late bloomers, out-of-nowhere contributors. Last year, Starks played that role. He revived a running game that seemed destined for hibernation. Who'll rise from the depths this season?

Maybe Saine. Maybe defensive end Mike Neal. Maybe one of the young inside linebackers.

Saine may not get much of a chance but pressure from Neal up front would really help the defense pick it up a notch.

It would be great if Neal would blossom into a pass rushing phenom, but I'm just hoping that he becomes reliable and solid. Reliable in terms of playing every week and solid in terms of not making mistakes. I would take reliable/solid over phenominal/miss 6 weeks. I know many disagree but I think the entire D-line will benefit from having another body in the rotation.

I think the emegerence of Shields last year easily played a bigger part in our success than Starks. Shame Shields hasn't kept upping his game this season.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
