Based on what the eye can see, Walden would seem to be mediocre... but the stats surprisingly tell a different story. Evidently, when you start using stats like rushes, QB hits, pressures... Walden has been pretty damn impressive.
I know, I know, it's hard to come away thinking that by simply watching him. But he's pushing Clay in some pressuring statistics, which is pretty damn surprising since Clay is not playing bad or anything like that. And Bob McGinn, whose probably one of, if not the most, reliable beat writers when it comes to evaluating game tape has had pretty impressive things to say about Walden's performances the past month.
I guess perception doesn't match reality with Walden...? I am not saying Walden is the best thing since sliced bread, because watching him play makes that clear; he simply does not stand out much outside of high effort. But according to the stats... Walden is putting up comparable production to Claymaker... which is very surprising. I'm honestly not sure what to think of Walden.
