To paraphrase P J O'Rourke, politicians are just the whores. If you want to get rid of prostitution, you have to get rid of the johns. The reason we have whores for politicians is that that's what "we, the people" keep asking for free sex: "Do this for me, baby, give me a blowjob. Someone else will pay for it." We bitch and moan about politicians, and then we turn around and demand high end call girl service to provide each of our kinks.

Until we collectively look in the mirror and say, "I gotta stop demanding the government help me get laid," we aren't going to change the politicians.

We're just going to get worse and worse social diseases.

What about the infrastructure of roads, travel and such that basically lay the foundation for our economy as we know it?

Do we allow the economy to regress until we as a society learn how to adapt without such items as publicly maintained roadways to move goods, allow people to get to and from work, the promotes much of our commerce.

Expand upon your vision of what would be "publicly" funded and what would be let go in this reshaped world.

To tie it back to the topic at hand.. how would that impact the governments role in supporting the web infrastructure as we know it?

Example.. tiny city of Medford Wisconsin redid the main roadway through the heart of the city.. with that they assisted in pulling and provided the right of way and housing for the new cabling within the city. Basically partially funding the very internet route I am using at the moment.

Does that all go private? So then whom provide the right of way for the service to be ran? Do we force the company to compensate individual landowners for rights? What happens when one says no? Do we abandon the service? Do we take the hit in the local and extending economies because we are relying on free trade and bargaining rights exclusively?

I want to know your vision.. because as righteous as it sounds.. and practical for that mater... there are tons and tons of questions like the above that would need to be sorted out.

"The oranges are dry; the apples are mealy; and the papayas... I don't know what's going on with the papayas!"

love it

#OPMegaUpload is in Full Effect. Justice.gov DOWN - MPAA.org DOWN - UniversalMusic.com DOWN - MASS DDOS ATTACK!

Whats hilarious is that it was shutdown due to piracy (largely pressured by the music industry), yet the CEO of megaupload is rap producer Swizz Beats.

Don't worry guys, SOPA's fucked...

Anyway, this whole bill is ridiculous. Sounds like a combination of the government going powerhungry combined with way too much corporate input in politics, which has been happening for way too long over in the US, anyway.

For those who don't truly understand what this is about just yet, here's a youtube video (now you can still watch it). He's a little too thorough for my taste and keeps rehashing stuff, but it does give a very clear indication of what kind of ridiculous power a government gets when a bill like this passes...

Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
    Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
