I reckon that DD's "trend" is significant in some ways, but I have trouble figuring out just exactly how it might be influencing the production of our offense in any negative way. Aaron Rodgers hit twelve- T W E L V E - different receivers in our last game.
Does anyone recall anyone doing that without a stat book? I don't.
Can Driver still play?
I say yes.
... But would I like to see Randall Cobb instead of Driver?
I think yes, yes I would.
Would I like to see Randall Cobb at the expense of possibly hurting Donald Driver's feelings?
No, No I would not.
That's right, I said his feelings. (...Non, lol)
The rook can sit and watch a master at his craft. An aging master, but a master nonetheless.
We can afford the luxury, as I noted one other "trend".
We are the undefeated SuperBowl champions after 5 games of the "next" season, and the other "trend" is that Donald Driver doesn't allow arrogance and complacency to slip into "his" corps of receivers. I don't actually "know" that they are his, but I do know that I like the net result of wherever they get their leadership from, and I strongly suspect that he is instrumental.
That is my take on the trend thing.
As an aside, Edgar Bennett is looking more and more like one very outstanding coach. He is absolutely not just a RB guy, after all. Maybe he's offensive coordinator material down the road...
