So J-Mike got caught up with the same nonsense rule as the Lions from 2010, but somehow the Patriots are except? Just wondering how this is a TD and Finely's was not.

I HATE this rule. Hate it hate it hate it. If I remember correctly, Finley took two steps with both feet touching the ground in the endzone.

The other one I hate is every touchdown being reviewed. Both of those need to go.

I don't care about New England. He didn't maintain possession all the way to the ground, which is the rule. He needed to keep both hands on the balls all the way to the ground.

I know Mike will grill him about that in the film room this week. It cost us 4 pts. It will only make Finley a better player in the long run.

No, maintaining possession to the ground is not the rule. It should be the rule, but its not. That is my gripe. You are required to maintain possession even after to the ground. If you have possession, and and any part of you other then the face of your hand touches the ground (just like a ball carrier)you are down at that spot.

If you compare this rule for a receiver to a player running with the ball it would be like if you were tackled and dropped the ball after your knee touches the ground and it being ruled a fumble because you didn't maintain possession thru the process of being tackled.

"It was crazy..Really, I got on the ball and the ball just squirted out. I was a second on the ground at least. I saw them do this (the officials wave their arms) and I was like, 'What?'

Stupid rule. GB has been burnt by it twice in 2 seasons. (The other time being the Detroit- Bears game.)

The rule is clear. It's a bad rule in my opinion, but it's the rule. I wouldn't say we've been burnt by it. Rather, I'd say NE got away with one. And I'd also say that Finley's non-TD looked closer to a legit TD than Hernandez's TD. Still, they should change the rule...

Why did they change this rule or create this rule or however it should be asked? What's the purpose of it?

Im not really sure what the rule is atm ...? I mean does this mean like last year at the superbowl when gj catches the ball some #$%hole can slam him as hard as he can to see if he can make him drop it?

Why is the rule any different - isnt it catch ball; 2 feet in bounds = catch?

doesnt the nfl want to prevent injuries then instigate them?

ya my questions are factious ...

IMO that was a TD by finley

Stupid rule, when it's caught in the end zone they change the rule from the rest of the field of play.

Another place the NFL is screwed up is on challenge replays. When the plays are really important, at the end of each half, the coaches cannot challenge. College does a much better job with this.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
