Alternate uniforms will return in 2011

GREEN BAY – If you purchased one of the Green Bay Packers’ 1929 throwback uniforms last season, good news: You’ll get to don it again for another game this season as well.

The Packers will wear the jerseys for a game in 2011, according to a league source. The team has yet to announce its plans – including which game – but is expected to do so in the coming weeks.

The Packers wore the navy blue 1929 throwbacks, with a gold circle on the chest, tan pants and brown helmets, for their Dec. 5 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.

According to NFL rules, because they selected that uniform, it is the only alternate uniform they can wear for a five-year period. After that time expires, teams are able to choose a different third uniform.

The league allows for teams to wear the alternate jerseys a maximum of three times per year, although the Packers are expected to only wear their alternate uniforms for one game.

I wouldn't mind these kits if it weren't for those ugly ass helmets.

I love those uniforms. It's what I often use in Madden. My white water kayak helmet and bass guitar (Warwick) both either have a wood grain look or are wood. I love that natural look. Can't wait. The helmets are actually one of my favorite parts.

Oh Lord. I was hoping they'd never wear these uniforms again. They're hideous IMO.

I can certainly understand any resentment towards the jersey because I do think they toe the hideous line, but I think they're pretty darn nifty, and am happy to see them come back.

I also wouldn't mind seeing the team going with Wolf's proposed jersey full time. Although I love the team, I've never loved their current 'kits.'

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
