Alternate uniforms will return in 2011

GREEN BAY – If you purchased one of the Green Bay Packers’ 1929 throwback uniforms last season, good news: You’ll get to don it again for another game this season as well.
The Packers will wear the jerseys for a game in 2011, according to a league source. The team has yet to announce its plans – including which game – but is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
The Packers wore the navy blue 1929 throwbacks, with a gold circle on the chest, tan pants and brown helmets, for their Dec. 5 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.
According to NFL rules, because they selected that uniform, it is the only alternate uniform they can wear for a five-year period. After that time expires, teams are able to choose a different third uniform.
The league allows for teams to wear the alternate jerseys a maximum of three times per year, although the Packers are expected to only wear their alternate uniforms for one game.
