Micheal Rodney of PackerUpdate has a new article saying that $6mil is too much for Grant. He says he likes Grant, but he's not worth THAT much. We won a SB without him, and in addition to that, we've got two younger guys who can get it done. He's saying open that money for cap room and sign Jackson to be your ace in the hole on third downs.
I've often been accused of being a Grant hater, but I do like Grant. He can get it done between the tackles, especially when he actually sees the hole open in front of him. This is radical thinking, but I suspect it might happen. Remember how Grant got that $6mil contract, by piling on the Favre fiasco.

Well, we did win a SB without him. God I'm glad we're back to real football again!

What did Jackson show last season that would induce management to take a step like this? If the only thing he is good for is blocking blitzes and catching out of the backfield, Starks proved he can do both. I saw him blow up a few blitzes in the Super Bowl, though admittedly he whiffed on a couple too.

I swear the Jackson is the annual off season all pro, but then the whipping boy during the season.

Jackson is what he is, a steady back with above average blocking skills.

Grant, if healthy, is a better runner and back with average to below average blocking skills.

I figured the Packers might restructure Grants deal this offseason to account for his increased injury risk and to make it a more palatable deal for both sides.

I've said it before and again here - I don't understand the Jackson love by Packer fans, and never will. He has been given EVERY opportunity to show something and has failed miserably. Let us move on. We use up Grant over the next 2 years - pass the torch to Starks (who gets plenty of action behind Grant); and teach our rookie how to block and run a screen play. You've just upraded the RB position from last year by about 60% production.
