Soon, the fun begins. Whenever a new CBA is struck, a league-wide shopping spree will commence.

The owners have reportedly dropped their demands for the right of first refusal in free agency. Thus, players with at least four years of experience will become free agents. Teams will have a 72-hour window to re-sign their own guys.

It’s a win for the players and a loss for the Packers, who now have some tough decisions to make. Here’s a quick lowdown on Green Bay’s potential free agents to-be. Have at it...

Cullen Jenkins

2010: 11 games, 29 tackles, seven sacks

Injuries dogged Jenkins again last year, but he still managed to put together one his finest seasons. After missing a month of action with a nagging calf injury, Jenkins returned for Green Bay’s postseason run. Was a force in Green Bay’s NFC title win in Chicago with a tackle for loss, a half-sack, two QB hits and a pressure. Suffice to say, he earned himself a big payday somewhere. With some extensions in order down the line — Clay Matthews, Jermichael Finley, Josh Sitton, Jordy Nelson, even Aaron Rodgers again — Jenkins probably will cost too much for Ted Thompson. Known for re-upping contracts ahead of time, nothing was done here. Look for the Packers to count on one of their young ends to emerge as a starter in camp. It’s smarter. It’s cheaper. Chances of staying: 5 percent

James Jones

2010: 50 rec., 679 yards, 5 TD

A true Jekyll-and-Hyde receiver. Has served an invaluable role in Green Bay’s offense but is prone to maddening drops. Despite boasting natural pass-receiving ability — think Atlanta Divisional Playoff game — Jones let deep, potential touchdown grabs slip through his fingers against Miami, the Jets, the Giants, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. With Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb around, the Packers may not be willing to shell out much dough here, either. Chances: 20 percent

Daryn Colledge

Started every game last three years

Model of durability with Packers. Allowed only three sacks a year ago. Still, Colledge struggles against premier defensive tackles in the run game and is so-so in pass protection. Another team is likely to value Colledge higher than Green Bay. Look for the Packers to let T.J. Lang and Nick McDonald duke it out at camp for the left-guard spot. Chances: 30 percent

Brandon Jackson

2010: 703 rush yards, 342 rec. yards, 4 TD

Twice in his career had a golden opportunity to win starting job and didn’t seize it. Is hesitant and lacks wiggle. Jackson isn’t a No. 1 back. but still serves a valuable role. He never fumbles, is a rock in pass protection and is a sneaky receiver out of the backfield. It’s very hard to predict what the market price will be for Jackson and how management deals with its crowded backfield. Chances: 45 percent

Mason Crosby

’10 stats: 22-of-28 FG (78.6 percent), 56 long, 112 points

Ranked 26th in FG percentage but has specific value in Green Bay. Crosby’s strong leg is suited for Lambeau Field. It’s difficult to find and keep a reliable kicker in this league. Look for Green Bay to lock Crosby up. He's a keeper. Chances: 90 percent

Korey Hall

A core special teams player. Has made sacrifices for team. While Thompson has shown a propensity to keep an extra fullback on the 53-man roster, it’s hard to see him doing it again this year. Chances: 50 percent

John Kuhn

Iced a Packers win over Detroit in Week Four and gained momentum throughout season. A gamer. Versatility works in his favor. Chances: 60 percent

Anthony Smith

Backup safety that knows system, comes cheap. Chances: 50 percent

Jason Spitz

Career has taken a nosedive since solid 2008 season. Spitz hasn’t been the same player since back surgery. Chances: 15 percent

Matt Wilhelm

Hard to see this bargain-bin acquisition from October returning with so many inside linebackers around. Chances: 10 percent

Atari Bigby

There isn’t a spot in Green Bay for Bigby. Best for both sides to part ways. Chances: 5 percent

Brett Swain/Spencer Havner

These two exclusive rights free agents face an uphill climb with newcomers joining both of their positions.

Jenkins is all but gone at this point. If the Packers really wanted to keep him, I think they would have franchised him and negotiated after the lockout. I believe they did the same thing with Ryan Pickett.

Why would James Jones want to return? He will get more money and playing time elsewhere.

I suspect Mason Crosby and John Kuhn return. I don't think Kuhn is going to find a role better than the one he has in Green Bay. The organization also believes in Crosby, regardless of how some of us feel about him as a clutch kicker.

The real wildcard is Daryn Colledge. I guess the Packers’ faith in T.J. Lang is about to be revealed.

My guess is Crosby, Kuhn, Hall, Smith, Swain and Havner all get resigned. At least if Hall and Smith will stay for cheap, Smith made it sound like he will and that their is verbal deal in place... I haven't heard anything from Hall one way of the other. (not saying I think they will make the final cut but at least come back and compete for a spot) (also with 5 other TEs they might let Havner go)

Jackson is a possible choice as a 3rd down back, but I think it's unlikely as he think he's good enough to start and wants more chances which the Packers might not give him. Grant was ahead of him, Stark got ahead of him and they drafted a new guy who blocked and caught pretty well in college spread offense.

I'm also thinking they'll sign an OL guy, because if Lang starts at LG then McDonald could be backing up all 3 IOL spots. I think McDonald has a good amount of potential, but I think they would prefer better depth than just taking a chance McDonald would be ready to start after going undrafted and not being active for a single game.

Spitz hasn't been the same since the back injury which they might not trust, so I'm guessing it's not him. Which leaves Colledge as the only Packer and normally they resign their own. So it's probably Colledge.

But there are some other good OG FAs out there as well...

Carl Nicks (NO), Logan Mankins (NE), Daryn Colledge (GB), Davin Joseph (TB), Harvey Dahl (ATL), Justin Blalock (ATL), Chris Chester (BAL), Marshal Yanda (BAL)

I think Nicks is an RFA and Makins has a franchise tag on him. Colledge has been hear and knows everyone and the system.

Of the rest I find Yanda the most interesting, Iowa born, raised and college so he's used to the midwest, isn't 27 years old (yet), played in 16 games 3 out of 4 years, mostly started but didn't always so he should be used to battling for a spot, last year he started at RG and RT. He was very good at RG and moved to RT because of injuries to others and did a solid job there. I read he can also play Center but I don't know how well. And it would certainly spice up the LG battle if Colledge isn't resigned.

Problem is the Ravens really want him back, but sounds like his agent really wants to see if a better organization offers about the sames as the Ravens. (I found it interesting wording by the agent... organization instead of team)

Sounds like the Ravens will let Chester test the FA waters as well as the Falcons letting one of their OGs test the waters (as they have 3 starting OL in FA)

My wish list:
Jenkins, Jones, Crosby, Kuhn.

What I expect:
Colledge (argh!), Crosby, Kuhn, maybe Jackson, maybe Spitz.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I hold to my thoughts that Jones sticks.. Crosby, Kuhn as well.

Jenkins... I still maintain you stay in the talks until the money goes bonkers.. if the market price is fair.. ink him otherwise allow him to obtain what the market will bear.

Colledge.. unless he takes a "hometown" discount.. I do not expect him to be here this season.

After that.. I don't see a need to overpay any of the guys left on the list.. Packer friendly deals.. fine.. otherwise.. thank you and good luck.

Here is the beautiful thing.. the Packers really don't have to invest in this hurried free agency period where I think some are going to get overpaid..

*Also found a new agent in Drew Rosenhaus which drops the estimated 45% resigning to a -100% resigning by the Packers.*

I think Jackson is as good as gone. He will be looking for a bigger role and better payday (my guess to firing old agent and landing Rosenhaus). I think he can make an impact on a running back-needy team and get his money while he is at it.

With talks of Jenkins/Redskins, I'd say Jenkins is also as good as gone. If Washington really does pursue him, they get a quality player and will overpay him for his services. Jenkins played great with Green Bay but I am ready to follow the younger linemen and hope that they are ready to play.

I still have hope for James Jones to get resigned. I think Ted Thompson will bring him back and his playing time is just fine in GB.

Who I think the Packers resign:
Crosby, Kuhn, Jones, and Colledge.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
