The Packers have reportedly decided that 2010 fifth-round pick Marshall Newhouse's best position is tackle.
Newhouse was tried at guard as a rookie, but the Packers have now decided that he lacks the strength to play inside. They reportedly see him "solely as a fourth tackle," behind Chad Clifton, Bryan Bulaga, and Derek Sherrod. The Packers are expected to look elsewhere for Daryn Colledge's replacement at left guard. Good. I like the decision.

Is this a tacit admission that, short of an injury to a starter, Newhouse will never see the field this year?

How do they know how weak he is now? After all, they haven't been having secret workouts have they?

I still think he's a sleeper starter at tackle before all is said and done. (For some reason, I just think Bulaga might still end up at LG)

Of course, I'm a known Colledge non-fan...

Personally.. I like the idea of keeping him on the edge.

What I am curious about is it that they think he lacks the firing out of the stance "strength" at the point of attack or that they are pointing to his physical strength. I would hedge toward the former more than the later.

I like Newhouse for some reason. I hope he develops into the third best tackle in the league - behind Sherrod and Buluga.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?
