That 8.2 ypc is impressive, but largely a product of the spread offense that Hawaii ran. And 4.45 doesn't sound that slow to me. If he shows anything he'll replace BJack as our 3rd-down back.

Wasn't it Tony Fisher who had some eye popping numbers? He came in on 3rd down with 3-4 Wr in spread formation and they would run him up the middle for 6-9 yards?

Biography: Junior college transfer awarded all-Conference honors as a senior with rushing totals of 146/1199/18 and 27/363/1 receiving. Rushing totals the prior year included 86/453/2.

Negatives: Not a physical runner and tends to finish plays out of bounds. Does not display much strength carrying the ball. Must pick up the blocking intensity.

Analysis: Green is a physically gifted ball carrier with the athletic skills and running abilities to make it at the next level. He offers potential as a second back in the NFL if he rounds out his game and carries the ball with more physicality.

Projection: 6th

He runs downhill and has experience in a spread offense. He's a natural pass catcher out of the backfield. Mike McCarthy can move him around. He can line up in the slot as a WR. His hands are that good. I agree that it spells doom for Brandon Jackson. I suspect he was drafted as his replacement. I think he'll be a nice player in the screen game. He could return kicks. This is a scheme fit. He fits into the Packer offense very nicely.

The only thing that bothers me if he is to replace Jackson is that he needs to work on his blocking but IIR, Jackson needed work when he got to GB. But then they were not the defending SB champs and I don't like to see GB slid back in any portion of their game. Esp RBs picking up would be assailants of ARod.

Exactly. He will be busy with his new job and won't be able to spend much time helping the RBs or their coach. Certainly he can discuss a few things with them but not spend every day with them.

Seems like a niche pick. Our team is so loaded that we have to draft a 3rd down back to ensure he'll make the roster.

It seems to me Thompson is looking at both value and where we may need players depending on who stays and who goes.

We get the OT that is necessary with Cliffy's iffy knee's and the other OT's being somewhat iffy other than Bulaga.

We get the WR with Jones probably gone and Driver getting older and hurt more often.

We get the 3rd down back with Jackson probably gone.

I guess now I see Thompson going to the D and getting an OLB, DL, and CB. Of course, who knows with Ted.

I'm still not happy Edgar was moved to WRs coach but what do I know.

Anyway, virtually everyone else has already said what needs to be said, but I like that he has a fb frame with rb speed/agility. This definitely appears to be an upgrade over BJack, and maybe a solid fill-in for an everydown back in a year or two if Starks/Grant goes down.
