Cool cool. I think the Packers did that the first few years under Ted Thompson. I don't recall any future draft selections though, as I believe you also mentioned. I think the Packers had a chance to with the Browns during the Brady Quinn slide.

Aren't we probably among the most blessed fans not having to worry about how Ted handles the draft? You know that for him if the time is right and the deal is right he wil move ANY direction.

If he doesn't so what? He ends up with good picks anyhow and nearly always finds somebody late or even after the draft who's a player and that is hard to do.

Yeah, NE does like this future pick concept but it's not like it comes free. They gave up a pretty damn good football player in Seymour that is part of how that happened.

Yeah, NE does like this future pick concept but it's not like it comes free. They gave up a pretty damn good football player in Seymour that is part of how that happened.

Maybe the players they'll get in the second are good, but that's no guarantee either. What if Ingram becomes half the player that Emmitt Smith was, as the comparisons are made? It's likely their decision to not take him (along with many others) doesn't look so good then. Yeah, they gained a pick next year, but the Saints will be picking in the 20's again next season more than likely, and if Ingram pans out, all their losing is what, a mid to late 3rd? Not so bad.

The success of this drafting style will be judged by the long term quality of the picks he makes, not the number.

I understand both teams desire to make a move. This is a weak draft, so the Falcons went for quality over quantity. I don't mind that, but the cost next year will be great.

I love what the Saints did. Mark Ingram could be rookie of the year in that offense and Cameron Jordan reminds me of Cullen Jenkins. He'll be DE on first and second down, but kick inside on third down.

Based on the title, I was thinking the article was about Minnesota reaching for Christian Ponder.

I understand both teams desire to make a move. This is a weak draft, so the Falcons went for quality over quantity. I don't mind that, but the cost next year will be great.

I wish Ted Thompson would have pulled the trigger on trading the Harrell pick to Clevland their present second and first the next year, it would have looked real good. Isn't hind sight great!!! LOL Just dreaming, I really like the job Ted does. In a way it's boringly good!!!
