This pick also allows Bulaga to stay at right tackle the position at which he started 16 games last season. And while general manager Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy believe that Bulaga could play left tackle, hes clearly better-suited for the right side. Thats where his strength is an advantage and his average feet and short arms are less of a liability.

Booya Zero, what'd I tell ya... j/k

I'm really excited about Sherrod, even though I wanted a DE or OLB.

Looks like Jersey Al nailed it.

# Whisper: The Packers love Mark Ingram. They wouldnt hesitate to take him if he gets past New England. Unless
# Whisper: Derrick Sherrod were to fall into their lap. Then hes the guy. BTW, this would make me VERY happy. Sherrod is my #2 LOT in the draft.
# Opinion: For that matter, Sherrod is one of only 2-3 players the Packers should consider a trade up into the mid-late 20s for.

Isn't one of the knocks on sherrod that he has short arms as well?

Can someone explain to me why we would be considering drafting ingram? We're a team that has 2 good running backs already in Ryan Grant and James Starks, why would we spend a first rounder on another RB? I just don't get it.

Why are you people overrating Grant so much?

More than overrating Grant, I'm not sure Ingram would have been worth the contract investment given that you can get quality RBs later in the draft at a much lower rate. Add to it, you have a youngster with potential in Starks that is on a very favorable contract... and I'm not so sure Ingram was at all necessary, BPA or not.

The most interesting comment I read about Sherrod is from McGinn's quotes from scouts and NFC/AFC executives. Someone told McGinn that he thought Sherrod could play at either T or G, he would be extremely versatile. Let's see. Either way, with Bulaga or Sherrod it seems that our LTs of the future will be much more acceptable at run blocking. So those few times we do run, we don't have to run it to the right side most of the time. Yay, versatility.

Looks like Ted might of finally started getting away from the idea of picking up hidden gems on the OL later in the draft. No doubt he can do it with other positions very well, but other then Sitton I can't see a long term quality starter he drafted in the later rounds.
Maybe not this year if we can get a some games out of Clifton again, but the line of the future is looking up.

Sherrod Colledge Spitz/Wells Sitton Bulaga

Love the idea of getting back into the old days where the line stuck together for years, reminds me of the days behind Wahle, Rivera, Flanagan, Tausch, and Clfton.

He described Grant as "good." That's all. Doesn't sound like too much of a stretch to me. Maybe what bothered you was the fact that he dared to mention Grant in the same sentence as the great James Starks. But I agree with his assessment that they are both good, and these days you can win a championship with a running back who is merely good. Two of them is even better.

I think Colledge will be gone in free agency (replaced by Lang or someone else), but I share your enthusiasm for using a high draft pick on an O-lineman. The O-line is the one area where I have no faith in this coaching staff to develop players. We need talent. No more goofing around with slugs like Allen Barbre and Breno Giacomini. Aaron Rodgers is finally getting the protection he deserves. I love this pick.

Clifton plays one more year, so does Sherrod sit and be groomed or do they play him at LG to get him some action. It's a tough call because you have Lang or McDonald plugged to play LG right now. Maybe we also draft a guard in the mold of Sitton on Saturday.
