Instant replay
-Coaches will now not have to burn their challenges when a questionable play involves scoring. From now on, EVERY scoring play will be confirmed by an off-field replay official.

Kick offs
-Probably the most sweeping rule changes have to do with the kick-off game. Kickoffs will be moving from the 30 up to the 35-yard line. This will undoubtedly increase the number of touchbacks occuring during games. The reasoning behind the move is simple: More touchbacks = less high-speed collisions = less injuries.

The second part of this rule change has to do with the running start that the coverage teams get on kickoffs. Instead of the 10-15 yard start we're accustomed to, coverage will only have 5 yards to get up to speed as the ball is kicked off.

The James Starks rule
They are going to allow teams to add an extra linebacker on defense whenever James Starks is in the game.

The instant replay rule sounds reasonable.

I think the kickoff rule is pure posturing by the league. If kick returns really are "unsafe" plays, they should eliminate them altogether.

Also, I don't get the part about players no longer being allowed to get as much of a running start. How long does it take an NFL player to get up to full speed? Ten yards, maybe? So instead of reaching full speed when the ball is kicked, they'll reach full speed a second or two after the ball is kicked, and before they make contact with the blockers. Big deal.

Player safety, my ass.

I wonder if this kickoff position change has anything to do with overtime.

Our special teams just got a whole lot better!!! The Bears must be pissed.

I must admit to really liking the instant replay rule change. It seemed to be an unfair advantage to home teams in the past that the road teams didn't get access to the reviews of the touchdowns.

I wonder how much Slocum is gonna try to get Crosby to just kick it out of the end zone this year. He has the leg.

Exactly what I am thinking. It is gonna take away excitement, but us the Giants and the Charger fans should be celebrating.

This rule change also allows us to hide our poor return game because if they kick it into the end zone it actually seems like a blessing most games.

So much for drafting a return specialist huh haha

I liked how they wanted a touchback to put the ball at the 25. That would've meant some tactical kicking. Deep enough to not give up a good return, but not kicking it out of the back of the endzone, mindlessly.

Wonder how many teams still use kickoff specialist, you got to think damn near every one of them will be in the unemployment line this year.
