We know when we pick (unless we trade) and we can see who will be out of reach when it comes our turn. So I am going to list all the players being kicked around as first round candidates, who we won't have a shot at, and who's left.

I came up with 39 players being given a solid shot at being chosen in the first round or are locks. The locks have a star by their name leaving the remaining players as possibly being there when we chose at #32.

QB
*Newton
*Gabbert
Locker

RB
*Mark Ingram
Mikel Lashore

WR
*AJ Green
*Julio Jones
Torrey Smith
Jon Baldwin

TE
Kyle Rudolph

OT's
*Anthony Costanzo
*Gabe Carimi
*Tyrone Smith
*Nate Soldier
Derrick Sherrod
Ben Ijalana

G/C
*Mike Pouncy
Steve Wisniewski

DE
*Da'Quan Bowers
*Robert Quinn
*Aldon Smith
*J.J. Watt
*Camaron Jordon
*Ryan Kerrigan
*Adrian Clayborn
Cameron Haywood

DT
*Marcell Dareus
*Nick Fairley
*Corey Liuget
*Muhammad Wilerson
*Phil Taylor
Stephan Paea

3/4 OLB's
*Vonn Miller
*Akeem Ayers
*J.Houston

CB
*Patrick Peterson
*Prince Amukamura
Jimmy Smith

That's 27 players with stars by their names. Obviously any of those would be good value at #32.

That leaves Locker, Lashore, Torrey Smith, Baldwin, K. Rudolph, Derrick Sherrod, Ijalana, Wisniewski, Haywood, Paea, and, Jimmy Smith.

Ted could easily have another name higher than any of these. There could also be a run at QB with both Locker and Mallet going before we pick.

If Badwin, Sherrod, Haywood, Paea, and Ijalana or Wisniewski go I could see Ted going for somebody not listed here. With this scenario it may be better for Ted to have moved up seeing this coming or consider moving down.

Brooks Reed at OLB? No asterisk needed.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

There's been talk of Akeem Ayers dropping due to less than stellar work out numbers. He's a great player that would be a steal at 32. I highly doubt he makes it that far.

I still think the best bet is to move up to the mid 20s for a shot at Carimi or Costanzo. Then we'd have our tackles of the future.

Just realized, I have four years of college eligibility remaining! Plus red shirt!

I think some other WRs might be rated higher than Jon Baldwin... like Leonard Hankerson and others...

also that seems like a lot of linemen... I'm thinking one or two of them could have a chance at dropping...

ILB Martez Wilson could be taken by someone...

Also I find the 4th and 5th CB interesting in Brandon Harris / Aaron Williams

The more QBs that get picked before us the better. If Gabbert, Newton, & Locker all get picked before us that means more players at positions of need will drop to us. I've also heard some talk of Kaepernick, Ponder, or Mallett going in the bottom of round 1.

Additionally, if a QB needy team doesn't get the guy they want in round 1, GB will be in prime position to trade down. For example, say Cincinatti want to go w/ Bowers at 4. They could then trade their 2nd round pick (#36 overall) and some other picks to GB for a chance to draft their QB of the future.

It sucks we aren't going to be able to use Barnett or Flynn to move up in the first round.

I wouldn't mind seeing a trade back into the second to add an additional high third - then use both thirds to trade up into the second round. It would give you 3 2nd round picks, in which you could add O-line, OLB and a WR/return man. Use the rest of the draft for project players.

Only if the CBA is in place. Teams cannot make a player trade unti then. They can only trade draft picks.

Yeah, this CBA stuff really fucks a teams strategy to take advantage of other teams lack of ability to develop players. Truly unfortunate, indeed.
