Let's not forget it was Bishops first half of a season of actually being a starter and he responded excellent.

Bishop is going to be a monster next year and for a lot of more years to come.

Now I'm not saying that Bishop is a better LB then Barnett but in the 3-4 defense I would much more prefer having Bishop over Barnett.

In the 4-3 I would probably pick Barnett because we haven't really seen what Bishop can do in the 4-3.

Why wouldn't Bishop be as good in the 4-3? He's stouter against the run than Barnett, he's probably a better blitzer, and he looked at least as good as Barnett in coverage, if not better. The skills required to excel at 3-4 ILB are pretty much the same as 4-3 MLB as far as I can tell.

There's the thing that a lot of people miss as well about AJ Hawk this year. He did turn into a three down linebacker this season. That was a big knock on him before, that's worse than lack of impact plays in my mind. Just another reason I am glad they worked it out.

And on topic, don't think McCarthy needed to say it, but just as glad that it was said outloud. Chemistry is key in football. Hawk and Bishop worked well together, the proof is in the Super Bowl XLV Championship pudding. Eat it up!

A comment that would be more interesting to hear is how many teams have approached GB with some kind of a trade offer. I suppose they all have to wait until the new CBA is finalized.

Probably no one, yet. If he's going to be traded, it'll probably be on draft day... but I can't imagine anyone making an offer so soon for a guy we may wind up cutting.

Because he wouldn't have Hawk putting him in position to make plays, he'd have to do it all on his own. Hawk is worth every penny of that contract he just signed.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that 3-4 ILBs are bigger and 4-3 MLBs are smaller.

Packers run a 3 - 4 defense. Bishops under contract with the Packers for the next few years.

Who gives a flying potato skin fuck about the 4 - 3.

The big knock on him, and the reason he didn't get any playing time in the first game of the year, was his coverage skills.

However, he had the second most pass break ups for all line backers in the league. Plus the 3 ints.
