Just an update from my post several weeks ago about all the snow we've had. Our house is now at 125 inches for the season. We have had at least 5 inches of snow on the ground for 117 consecutive days and now enough is enough. Last week alone another 13 inches dumped on my yard...............but if you think we have it bad, two passes close to us had the most snow on the planet last week in a four day period.
Lookout Pass, on the Idaho/Montana border measured 6 1/2 feet of snow in a four day period last week bringing their total for the year to 421 inches. The ski area at the pass has a base of 194 inches at the top and 122 inches at the bottom. Actual, unpacked depth at the pass is 18 feet.
Lolo Pass, 20 miles directly west of us, measured 6 feet of snow in the same period. Actual unpacked depth on the cross country ski trails in now at 14 feet, with up to 2-3 feet more expected in the next 36 hours.
I feel cheated. The snow in my yard is only 30 inches deep now. Warm weather is setting in and now the spring run-off begins. Gonna be some flooding somewhere around here.
