I wonder how many assumed Brad Jones backup was not as good, or Nick Barnett, or Burnett, etc ...

Injuries are a part of the game. If it helps the Packers win the super bowl then I'm all for it. The Packers have sure had their share.

Name one other team that could lose their starting tight end, running back, 3/4 of their linebackers and safety and even make the playoffs. And that is not even half of our season ending injuries. Can you imagine the bears without urlacher, olsen, forte etc or the vikings without shaincoe, peterson, henderson and others?

Injuries happen.

Aside from the level of talent is the importance of the Center position as it relates to communication with the OL. The Center is called on to get the entire line on the right page.

For an inexperienced C to recognize what Capers is up to and what the Packers will bring and from where is going to be extremely challenging.

This is aside from the fact this kid will be extremely challenged by Raji.

I definately can see Capers bringing delayed blitzes up the middle and some complex packages with the thought that the Steelers will probably try and make sure this young guy gets some help.

Center is a big deal, noticed when Pouncey wasn't in...Big Ben fumbled the ball twice, once in the endzone.

They'll have two weeks to work on the center/qb exchange. Still a huge loss for the Steelers though.

I think of Pittsburgh going without Pouncey as akin to what GB would have do without Sitton.

I'd be really apprehensive.

If I were a Pittsburgh fan.

Legursky is shorter and Big Ben is, well, big. The exchange issues could be in part due to the height difference. It may also slow Bens drop back down a half of a step and make him susceptible to being stepped on.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/01/pouncey-say-he-has-a-75-percent-chance-to-play/

According to most reports, Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey wont play in Super Bowl XLV due to an ankle injury suffered in the AFC title game against the Jets.

Pouncey has yet to see those reports.

He told Deion Sanders of NFL Network during Tuesdays Media Day that the rookie standout has a 75-percent chance of playing in the game.

Coach Mike Tomlin was less optimistic, but not quite pessimistic.

Im defintely not gooing to count that young man out, Tomlin said, per Jason La Canfora of NFL Network. I dont think anything hes done this year would lead you to believe that hes incapable of showing up. So were going to give him every opportunity to do so.

Whether Pouncey can play and whether hell be effective are two different things. Either way, the Steelers need to have someone at center wholl be able to handle Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji.
