da Bears have found their QB. Let's see if they're smart enough to actually start him over Cutler.

A bit premature, don't you think? But it could get interesting if he has a good training camp and Cutler gets off to a slow start.

I think teams like the Vikes, Titans and Cardinals may be little interested by his play today. Fair play to him, he went out there with no fear.

We had no film on the guy. Unknown QBs play well often, because the D has no idea what he's capable of.

And they have no idea what the QB's weaknesses are. We thought for awhile that blitzing would be a good idea. It did not phase Haine in the least.

But I agree with bozz_2006, we shouldn't be talking about the Bears right now. We should be talking about how incredible of a feat this has been. All of the injuries, all of the doubt, all of the close losses. We're going to the Super Bowl, everybody. Soak it in, it may be another 13+ years before this happens again.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/23/packers-find-yet-another-to-win-headed-to-super-bowl/

The Green Bay Packers are headed back to the Super Bowl after beating the Bears 21-14 in some of the strangest ways possible.

Aaron Rodgers got the headlines in the playoffs, but the Packers have survived this deep into January because of their ability to win games in a variety of ways. That really showed up Sunday in Chicago.

This win was about their punter Tim Masthay, who pinned Devin Hester back all day. It was about undrafted player Sam Shields picking off two passes. It was about the coverage skills of nose tackle B.J. Raji, who scored the only second half points for Green Bay. It was about Rodgers making a Ben Roethlisberger-like tackle of Brian Urlacher after a costly interception.

Third-string Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie helped make it interesting, driving the ball inside the Packers 30-yard line with under a minute to go before Sam Shields clinched the game with a pick.

This was a game that the Packers could have put away a few times. Rodgers was picked off twice and didnt seem to play the same after taking a big shot to the helmet from Julius Peppers in the fourth quarter. After Rajis score made it 21-7, Hanie rallied to put together a lightning quick touchdown drive.

This was a game that may be remembered as much for Jay Cutlers disappearing act as anything the Packers did. But the contributions the Packers got from throughout the roster show how this team has grown.

James Starks and the running game were huge in the first half. Greg Jennings had 130 yards receiving. For the most part, Rodgers protection held up well. The defense thoroughly confused and harassed Cutler while he was in the game without having to blitz much.

Rodgers has undoubtedly improved every season as a starter, but the players around him improved more this year. This Packers team is about so much more than a passing attack.

Haine has shown a tremendous amount of poise in an important game. This wasn't regular season.

I don't think it's premature. I'd like to see da Bears give the kid a shot at unseating Cutler for the #1 spot. If not, don't be surprised to see him starting for the Vikings next year. Or unfortunately, Matt Flynn. The Vikings would be better off with Haine though. The Vikings' OL is horrible and Haine can both move and deal with pressure.

He really had me worried. For those not in the chat, I was making fun of Cutler and Collins the whole game. Then when Haine started lighting it up, I was genuinely worried.

I think Rodgers was shook up worse than he let on after the Peppers hit. The offense went down hill after that. Good thing our D stepped up. Give Rodgers a couple days to heal and a warm dome in Dallas to play in and they will be on fire again.

Honestly, Peppers should have been ejected for that hit. Not only was it a flagrant helmet-to-helmet shot, but he also slapped Rodgers on the helmet after he took him to the ground. That was just uncalled-for, and I don't even like the contact-to-the-QB's-helmet rule.

This game just reinforced my desire to see our offensive line position coach gone after the Super Bowl, as well as my hope that Ted Thompson will draft another stout offensive lineman in the first round and a solid possession wide receiver somewhere in the 2nd through 4th. It's actually amazing Starks was able to grind out 74 yards on the ground. The defense was in our backfield on essentially just about every single play. There were several plays that looked like they should have been tackles for loss that Starks somehow managed to turn into no gain or gain of one. Overall, the line should be embarrassed by their performance on this, the second-biggest stage the game has to offer.

As I've said many times, I love the drama and excitement of close games. I love the nailbiters. Obviously, I'll take a blowout any day, but we all know that isn't Mike McCarthy's typical style.

Watching these Packers games is like getting a good cardiovascular workout while drinking beer. 😃
