Which is the point a lot of people miss: they may take a larger portion from your income, but the return is a greater number of professional services (which could reasonably be argued as necessary) offered.

Am I to assume you feel these "professional service" are adequate in the standards that Americans privately pay for. Because if you do, then we have a much larger debate on our hands. Relying on the government to "take care" of everything creates laziness in the people because they don't have the incentives to go out and work hard for those things they want.

+1 to Dakota for correctly applying the economic idea of opportunity cost.

Again. :)

p.s. The sister agrees with Wade and The Mom: the [strike]honey[/strike] nectar is marvelous
p.p.s. it's fantastic drizzled over Brillo di Prosecco cheese, too.

Seems to be working out though - you checked our state's coffers lately?

Maybe they should move your beloved Vikings up to Fargo. We could build them the stadium that your Socialist regime couldn't even dream of.

So you take pride in being "on the dole".... a welfare state so to speak.

You claim the fiscal greatness of North Dakota yet you hold your hands out like beggars......interesting, kind of like a millionaire asking for food stamps.

It's my fault our farmers are provided booquoo subsidies to feed the country. Christ I'm gonna have to start checking out the mailbox for this government money coming my way.

Our fiscal greatnes is coming from Rockin the Baaken. We have huge oil reserves they are just beginning to tap.

I don't give a rat's ass about millionaire farmers accepting subsidies. That's between them and God. Obviously it bothers you though.

Ya, North Dakota is a great [strike]contributor[/strike].....

FEDERAL AID TO STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS PER CAPITA
North Dakota 8th
Minnesota 31st

AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION BY STATE
Minnesota 5th
North Dakota 25th

OIL PRODUCTION BY STATE
# 1 Alaska:
# 2 Texas:
# 3 California:
# 4 Louisiana:
# 5 New Mexico:
# 6 Oklahoma:
# 7 Wyoming:
# 8 Kansas:
# 9 North Dakota:

The amount of oil that is "technically and fiscally" recoverable from the Baaken formation is not that great. It has been way over-hyped.
At least as of now, the oil resources recoverable of that area would a have a minimal impact on energy needs.

The only reason North Dakota is a state at all, is that back in the day when Canada and the US were deciding who should get stuck with that God-forsaken piece of crap land area, they played a 7 round game of Rock-Paper-Scissors....the US lost.

Oh, and good to spar with ya again Troy

Of course, as oil prices increase (as they will), a lot of that "technically and fiscally" unrecoverable stuff stops being technically and fiscally unrecoverable.

Demand for oil being what it is and will be, regardless of the efforts of the sillies (greens).

The Vikings are 'on the dole' when it comes to the NFL. They dip in more than most other teams. Let's talk about that.
