This is why Packers-Vikings has been a much better rivalry for the past few decades. Next Sunday's game, regardless of the outcome, will inject some new life into the Packers-Bears rivalry.

I wish I saw the blowout others are seeing. I DO believe we are the better team, and should win. But I'm looking more like 13-10, or 17-14 area.

Five questions for NFC title game

If you take a good look at the two Chicago-Green Bay regular-season games, you cant help but think that the Packers got the better of the contests.

Much better, actually.

If not for 18 penalties and two huge fourth-quarter mistakes a punt return for a score and a turnover in the first game (played in Week 3 at Soldier Field), Green Bay wouldve walked away with victory. Instead, the Bears won on a late field goal and that game has come back to haunt the Packers, who are playing in Chicago because of that loss.

With that in mind, here are the keys, issues and questions to consider:

1) Which Jay Cutler(notes) will show up, the one who was effective in the victory over Seattle or the one who struggled in two games against Green Bay?

This is the central question for the Bears and their fans. In the season finale against the Packers, Cutler was ineffective, throwing for only 168 yards on 39 attempts, getting intercepted twice and sacked six times. Overall, the Bears had nine of 13 possessions that went for less than 10 yards. Even in the Week 3 game, Cutler was just OK, completing 16 of 27 for 221 yards, one interception, one touchdown. Overall, the Bears have had 21 possessions against Green Bay, the Bears have one offensive TD.

2) Aaron Rodgers(notes) was great in the Georgia Dome, but he cant duplicate the feat in the brutal cold expected next Sunday, can he?

Thats going to be a popular thought, but heres how Rodgers has played in 10 outdoor games played in December or January since taking over as Green Bays starter in 2008, all of which were in cold-weather spots: Rodgers has completed 209 of 330 passes for 2,857 yards, 22 touchdowns and only five interceptions. Thats a quarterback rating of 106.8 and the Packers are 8-2 in those games.

Again, that does NOT include his game Saturday night at Atlanta or his playoff game at Arizona last year.

3) What is the Packers biggest obstacle?

Aside from playing on the road, the Packers have had some yips covering kicks and punts. In the first game against Chicago, the Packers allowed a 62-yard punt return for a score. On Saturday, they allowed a playoff-record 102-yard score to the Falcons. With Chicago having Devin Hester(notes) on its side, the Packers better be extremely careful.

4) Aside from Cutler and Hester, who is the most important player for Chicago?

Everybody knows about Julius Peppers(notes), Brian Urlacher(notes), Lance Briggs(notes) and the rest of the Bears defense, which is going to have to be at its best to win. But the key to this game is whether the Bears can be good on offense and tight end Greg Olsen(notes) is the guy to look at.

While a lot of people say that running back Matt Forte(notes) stirs the drink for the Bears outside of Cutler, Fortes numbers this season against the Packers (26 carries for 120 yards rushing and 10 catches for 74 yards receiving) meant almost nothing. In fact, Fortes best day was in the second game, when the Bears had only a field goal. Thus, Olsen becomes the focus. While he had only 41 receptions during the regular season, its obvious that Cutler likes to throw to him, particularly once the Bears get to midfield or better. In two games against Green Bay, Olsen had 10 catches overall, including the only offensive TD by the Bears. However, in the second game, Olsen was limited to only 29 yards receiving. If the Bears passing attack is going to do anything of substance, Olsen must expose the middle of Green Bays defense.

5) Aside from Rodgers, who is the most important Packer?

Well, well cheat here and say its the combination of cornerbacks Charles Woodson(notes) and Tramon Williams(notes). Between them, they have one sack and three interceptions in the playoffs. At 34, Woodson shows zero signs of slowing down in what is becoming a possible Hall of Fame career. Just as with Rodgers, a Super Bowl victory would be a huge step in Woodson cementing his legacy. For Williams, his three interceptions in the postseason have been a great display of his diverse skills. It has taken Williams awhile to get to this point, but he has clearly arrived.

The Packers are not gonna blow out this Bears defense. They're defensive unit is stacked with very good players. If there's any one weakness in their play this year, it's their DTs. Adams has never been a great player and Tommie Harris has had probably his worst year to date.

Keys to Packer victory Sunday:

1.Win turnover battle!!!!!!!

2. Do Not Kick The Ball To Devin Hester!!

3.Even if you think you have a safe lead.....Do Not Kick The Ball To Devin Hester!!

4. When In doubt see #1 and #2!!!!

5. Take away Cutler's first option, he will force the ball and make mistakes if this is accomplished.

All things equal,Bears cannot beat The Packers.

The only way Packers lose this game is to beat themselves.

Protect the ball, let your defense cause havok, take advantage of Bear mistakes..win the game!!!!

Packers 24 Bears 13

Their front four had a good game over the weekend, even if against the Seahawks. Peppers is a freak of nature. Dominates the game as Clay does, just in a different manner, but as effective.
What an amazing match up this game presents. On both sides. Plain and simple. Cutler is not as good as Rodgers when it comes to results of the scramble and broken plays. The numbers speak it. Seahawks didn't blitz Cutler at all and he had all the time in the world and ripped them up. Nick Collins will need to be more of a factor in this game as the field turf will create issues at times with either Williams or Shields on tight coverage and the safety will need to bail them out. I am asking as well that our skill players have a tight game and don't give up any turnovers. Enough is enough.
Waiting for this game is going to be the longest week of my life since the first time it hurt when I pee'd and had to wait for results to see if I had truely enjoyed the college experience.

ya I dont know why people talk about this vikings/packers rivalry - Ive never really heard of it until favre went to play for em. Ya sure they were a divisional rival and we had to beat em; but IMO it was just like detroit and ya sure there was a bit of rivalry going on there but IMO was nothing like the bears/packers ...

Ever since I was little growing up in kenosha there was always this packers/bears rivalry going on and it was alot more tense then I ever felt about the viks or detroit ...
seriously you guys ever go to chicago wearing packers gear; especially on game day or during football season?

I agree with Buckeye that if the Packers don't beat themselves with mistakes, we should win.
If we play our best, they won't stand a chance.....but if we make dumb mistakes, the Bears could win.
Now we all know why Lovie played his starters the last game. He was afraid this might happen.
