I've been as hard on Bjack as anyone, but I thought this was a good example of his value in the passing game. He has good hands, plus this isn't a TD and may not even make it to the 10 if he doesn't have the patience to wait for the OL and establish their blocks.

I'm likely being overly complimentary, but I was impressed by how he (and Colledge/Sitton) made something out of what appeared to be nothing.

I've said before that if we're going to keep him, I want him used primarily in passing situations. He does seem to be rather useful in the screens and swings, and as has been pointed out many times, he's good at picking up blitzes. But as a runner . . . as infrequently as possible, please.

I'm certainly not advocating utilizing him as a runner. I think Starks' recent performance(s) display Bjack's inadequacies as a pure runner, or at least how substantial of an upgrade Starks' is over Bjack.

However, he is a pretty good "3rd down back."

From what we see in his few appearances, though, it seems as though Starks may give Jackson a run for the money in the receiving department. He seems to have surprisingly good hands, and he's open more often than not in the flat. He looks to be an emerging check-down threat for Aaron Rodgers, especially toward the sidelines, which is something he's been sorely lacking this season.

Sorry, Brandon Jackson needs to be replaced. You can't keep one dimensional players like that on offense.

Alot of teams have 3rd down backs, hell look at Chester Taylor when he was in Minny. He made a career out of being a 3rd down back. Sproles in San Diego, McCluster in KC to name a few more. I was really impressed by that screen, it brought back memories when we were the best screen team in football.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

In this era of role players, Jackson's role is third down back.

Grant will be the main guy getting relieved by Starks occaisionally.

Jackson is still very valuable in passing situations.

I thought he was great on that play too. I did NOT think he was gonna get even close to the endzone. He grabbed onto the shirt of one of his blockers, and when the time was right, made his move. He's done that ALOT in his time here. yes, he's not a great runner, but he IS valuable, if you ask me.

I strongly believe in role players now, like the Patriots do. I think Jackson is a pretty good role player. As I've been saying, don't hate BJack. Hate the injury bug.

If Grant comes back 100% and given we'll have Starks as our #2, Jackson's a keeper. He's a pretty good 3rd down back.

The defense wouldn't necessarily pin their ears back. He could be useful in play action, or they could actually hand off to him now and then. Give Rodgers the option of deciding whether to pass or run based on the look the defense is giving them.

Overall, though, I do agree with you. I want Brandon Jackson replaced. The problem we're facing is that with our marquee receivers continuing to drop the ball, we need all the sure-handed catchers we can find, no matter how mediocre they may otherwise be.
