I have no problem with that what so ever.. I do it often.. guys like Hawk and Colledge used to drive me nuts.. still do at times.. or our reluctance to stick with the run, even if it isn't highly successful, to balance us up a bit and keep the defense on the honest side.

Being critical, debating or challenging a thought isn't the problem.. it is the method doing so.

Exactly!

btw, speaking of being critical and since this thread is all over, I spent some time thinking about what you said about 21 - 3 being iced. I don't agree, but I can see how it could have laid the foundation of the game being much more difficult for the Eagles. 21 - 3 and come out at half time and score another TD to make it 28 - 3 ... that would have been very difficult for the Eagles to overcome and with our defense, I could see how that could be iced.

LOL.. that was my only point with that iced comment.. with us having the ball after the half to boot.. I think the face of the game would be completely different with it 21-3 at half.

On a positive note.. that drop won me $20 in the office pool.. won both the half and the final on a 7... $40 quick dollars in my pocket. However if I add up all the coin I have pitched in.. probably still in the hole. 😉

I think I take "iced" too literal. My thinking is iced means there's no chance of the team coming back.

Anyhow, my daughter just said our toilet is clogged. I can't wait to go home now.

I will go through all 6 pages later and edit my comments here accordingly but I did want to get my $0.02 in.

MM coached a great game. I don't see how anybody can say that we didn't give it a shot at the end of the half. With < 2:00 minutes, We had 3 and ~5 and we called a pass play and converted for a first. If we had no balls we would have ran and milked the clock. The drop by Jones was psychologically one of the most significant momentum killers I have seen this season. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if AR had something to do with the end of that half as well. I don't know how I would be able to take another snap right after that error.

I do think we had time to get into field goal range, but I could be mistaken. I'd have to watch the last few minutes of the first half of the game again.

The certainly still had time and I'll admit that even I was a little annoyed that they didn't use the TO to at least take a shot at a hail mary.

With that said, right or wrong, IMO the decision was based on Jones blowing it, a penalty, and then finally saying "lets not take a chance of anything else going wrong."

That's an excellent applaudable point that I've failed to consider myself. Perhaps Aaron was too pissed to try again or upset or said screw it, get the first to ensure the clock is run out, get into half time, chew Jones ass off and come out smoking in the third quarter.

This is pretty much what I'm saying. That drop killed the momentum - maybe it shouldn't have, but it visibly did. Then you have the penalty, and there was a chance for things to snowball in the wrong direction.

I do think he can be second-guessed, but I'm okay with McCarthy pulling the plug at that point. No, not a killer instinct kind of a move, but IMO the right move to make at the time.

agreed ilikethepack93, and most importantly you get the ball to start the half. Didn't they start that drive at the GB 30 or so? If Mike were a pussy, he could have kneeled it after Philly's FG, yet Mike still took the shot at moving it until Jones "killed" the drive.

If people question what transpired in the 4th quarter, though I disagree, I feel there is a good argument to be made there. The 1st half, though, I think he gave it a shot and called off the troops at the appropriate time.
