Oh, it was either a typo, or I thought his screen name was TheKanataKilla, I guess.

By the way, did anyone besides me notice how many former Packers were in the Saints/Seahawks game? They weren't necessarily all active, but Colin Cole, Darren Sharper, Matt Hasselbeck, Ruvell Martin, Matt Giordano, DeShawn Wynn, and Breno Giacomini all come immediately to mind. It was a veritable boulevard of broken dreams. Were there any others?

Nope, I mentioned it in another thread and even listed the assistant coaches who were previously on the Packers.

I only saw the ending of the game.....but it was fun watching ol' "horse head" Manning get beat.
It's not that i dislike the guy, cause really, i don't. But his HEAD. It looks like it's a foot longer then it should be. Or is it just me that thinks that?
I kept expecting him (when that weird time out was called) to look at his coach and say, "But....WIL-BER!!!"
(Only the OLD guys will get that one......and maybe they won't even get it)

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Colts-inexplicable-timeout-aids-in-Jets-last-se?urn=nfl-305174

There's a link discussing the discision for those interested. I am always obessed with time management in the NFL, so all this is very interesting to me anyway.

lol...

Peyton Manning's(notes) face says it all. He knows the timeout could, and likely will, backfire. After leading his team to fourth-quarter comeback, he's watching it all slip away. In the immediate aftermath of the timeout, Manning seems to go through the five stages of grief: denial ("no, that couldn't have been us that called the timeout"); anger ("what's Irsay's phone number. I need to tell him to fire this idiot Caldwell. I'll be player-coach next year"); bargaining ("eh, who knows? Maybe it'll work. This could be the earliest icing of a kicker ever"); depression ("why me? Tom Brady(notes) gets Belichick, I get Caldwell") and acceptance ("I'm going to be 9-10 in the playoffs. They're going to call me 'Marino' when I retire.")

Peter King was just as incredulous as I was about that timeout by Caldwell. Here is what he wrote about it, including Caldwell's ridiculous explanation:

Now it's Saturday night, 29 seconds left, and the Jets have one timeout left, and they're at the Colt 32 on second-and-eight. Caldwell called time. It appeared on replays like Peyton Manning was waving his arms as if to say: "Are you kidding me?''

Caldwell gave an explanation afterward that raised more questions than it answered. Quite frankly, it was bizarre. "I was going to make sure they couldn't take the clock down,'' he said. "Make them snap the ball. They were in field goal range. So we wanted to make them snap the ball as many times as they could." What possible merit does making sure they couldn't take the clock down --which, of course, they could anyway, seeing that it was second down and this was Indy's last timeout and the game had 29 seconds left? Very strange.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
