I was worried that things basically came together one week late. I felt pretty good about being able to do something in the playoffs but I wasn't feeling overly confident that we'd get in...

There are times that McCarthy is a dazzlingly exciting coach, and there are other times he is maddeningly conservative. It is hard to predict which one of his avatars will come out in a given game. Hell, we often see more than one facet of his personality in a single game.

I'm sure in the future, I will be bitching when tentative Mike makes an appearance, just as I'll be cheering when ruthless Mike shows up. It's part of the emotion of the game.

He definitely needs to learn how to do the figurative "curb stomp" late in the game. The knockout blow. Keep his foot on the gas pedal for the whole 60 minutes... Wha, too many metaphors?
