These shark attacks happen so rarely. That is why you are hearing about an attack in the Red Sea, all the way in America. It feeds on our JAWS paranoia and sells copy. It is rare to happen. It was rare for this deep water species of shark to end up in the shallows of the Red Sea.
I wouldn't sweat it. I missed out on a trip to Sharm El Sheik several years ago and have regretted it since. Hear the diving is great. If you have the time, spend some coin and take a Nile cruise too. I hear they are worth it. Look up the engineering marvel it took to move the temple at Abu Simbel. When the Egyptians built it, they aligned it so the sun shone through the narrow tunnel entrance and lit the face of a Ramses statue only on one day of the year. When they removed the whole thing during the building of the Aswan Dam, they rebuilt and aligned it higher up the river such that it still shone on his face that same day.
