Here comes Mr. Cynical.

Now that the streak is over and Brett is likely to retire this season (I wouldn't be surprised to not see him return at all...why bother?), I wonder if we will continue to see the Jenn Sterger case in the news. Her camp has been vocal about saying she wouldn't press charges if the NFL censured or suspended Favre.

Here's my cynicism. Now that the streak is over and now that Favre will likely not play again, what difference would it make if they did censure or suspend. How do you suspend a guy who won't play again? What form of censure do you give?

I liked Brett for his actions on the field with the Packers. However, his conduct in sending unwanted sexual text messages to a young lady (who looks unmistakably like a young version of his wife) is despicable in my book. Not only that, it is predatory and illegal. Big Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for 6 games for the perception of bad judgment though nothing was ever proven or admitted. How is the Favre case not the same?

The NFL had a chance to show that they were serious about cleaning up players actions and were serious about this issue of sexual harassment. Instead, they dragged their heels hoping they wouldn't have to embarrass one of their marquee players and future HOF-ers. Well, it worked. Anything now will be empty words....and grown men will continue to act like spoiled, protected boys knowing they can get away with anything.

Are you seriously comparing sending pictures of his dick to a woman, to raping someone? Not that there's certainty that Ben did it, but dude get a reality check.

I don't think it's that bad morally what Favre did. If anything I think it's just funny. And she rejected him too. And judging from what Streger's friend said from the moment she recieved the picture messages, I don't think she was all that sexually offended by them.

God damn, I sound like a Favre apologist here. Whatever, you all know I'm not, this is just my honest opinion on the matter.

Favre probably won't play again, and I'm quite sure he won't get suspended either.

This is exactly the attitude I am talking about. Can you just go up to some woman in the mall and pull out your crank? Maybe in Finland, but not in the US. You'd be arrested for indecent exposure. Continue to do that and you are a sexual predator.

Whether she laughed it off at the time doesn't make it correct.

Furthermore, my point was that there was never any proof of rape in the Big Ben case. However, the commissioner decided that despite that, his actions still violated the personal conduct policy and that was what got him suspended for 6 games (reduced to 4).

Give me my reality check then, and tell me how this sort of behavior is acceptable?

I think the story will die now. Some of the details are murky, and it appears that there was some reciprocation on Sterger's part, at least before he sent the pictures, and apparently there's no way to prove that the pictures were him anyway. (I'm assuming that having Brett's wife I.D. the pictures is not an option.) It just doesn't seem like enough of a clear-cut case to really get anywhere, at least not with what has been made public up to this point.

Revealing yourself publicly is hardly the same as sending pictures of your dick. Come on, I've sent pictures of my wang to my girlfriend, am I a sexual predator? (Yes, I know, Jenn is not Favre's girlfriend)

If Jenn had told Favre to just go fuck himself before he sent the shots (it's implied they had texted back and forth before the actual sending of the photos), he probably wouldn't have sent them.

Also, my post didn't have anything to do with laws. Some laws are freaking stupid. Sending pictures of your dick is hardly the same as revealing youself publicly, just as texting someone you'll kill them is hardly the same as saying it face-to-face.

Morally, I don't think there's anything wrong with what he did. But that's just my morals, I understand if you have different ones. If you want to send pictures of your dick, go ahead. I don't think it's sexual harrassment at all. Groping her physically without her permission is sexual harrassment, and if he had did that, suspend him away.

Jenn Streger isn't a little kid, she can probably look at a man's penis and not be too emotionally scarred.

speaking from my point of view (a sexual woman who is no prude) i find it offensive. if i don't ask to see your dick, don't send me any pictures of it. sexual harassment in the work place? ehh...not so sure about that.
i figured last nite, he ended his streak on his own terms so now the nfl can 'suspend' him without too much backlash. we shall see.

Do I agree with Favre sending pictures of his dick to a two-bit sideline reporter who wasn't his wife? No. Do I think Favre is an idiot for his role in this cock-up? Absolutely.

However, it is blatantly obvious from the overall context of this story that there was some degree of reciprocation going on here. Anyone who thinks Favre didn't feel there was some reason for sending those pictures -- in other words, that she'd been hitting on him and he believed they would probably be welcome -- is borderline delusional. No sane man -- certainly no man with an ego as big as Favre's -- sends pictures of his genitals to a woman without provocation; the risk of rejection and humiliation is just too great. Furthermore, anyone who thinks it's beyond the realm of possibility that she texted him pictures of her own assets is delusional.

Had she taken the slightest offense to these pictures whatsoever, she would not have waited two years to come forward. She would have reported the offense immediately. Hell, either she or one of her close friends has admitted publicly that they laughed about the situation when it happened.

Just because Favre's fortunes have turned and he's now more vulnerable, so she finally sees the potential to make some quick cash, doesn't mean she was a victim two years ago. It's obvious that she's simply been biding her time. Normally one quickly deletes pictures that one finds disgusting. The only logical explanation for holding onto pictures one allegedly finds offensive is that one hopes they'll become useful later. If she was truly a victim here and wasn't just holding out for a payday, she'd turn the pictures over to the authorities. Instead, she's doing everything possible to obstruct the investigation and contenting herself with uttering dire threats.

Why does the public almost always give the woman the benefit of the doubt? Even more puzzling, why do MEN give the woman the benefit of the doubt? They must either harbor some seriously deep-set guilt complexes or they genuinely believe that women are somehow purer and more truthful than men, and that men are somehow baser than women.

As I said, deluded.

I've seen too many of these sordid affairs turn out to be fabrications (usually far too late to repair the man's sullied reputation) to ever again give the woman the benefit of the doubt. If they're going to make these kinds of serious allegations, they better have some damn strong evidence to back them up. And this chick doesn't have it.

Whoever has advised Favre not to give in to the demands of this conniving strumpet and her ambulance-chasing lawyer is smart.

So turning and belittling a woman or victim in every case is somehow more correct?

How about letting each case stand on its own merits without drawing in bias from either side.

From your time here.. you are very vocal about your position, which is the victim is lying or fabricating until proven otherwise.. which in my opinion is just as incorrect as the notion to believe everything they say on face value.

In this case.. not enough, other than the photographic from a third party site, evidence has been provided to the public to know the truth.. but some are burying Favre and some are belittling Sterger without clear facts.

We don't know what she text back if at all.

We don't know if she had contact with Favre that would have prompted a wang shot.

We don't know if Brett thought maybe she would be swooned by the mere fact that Brett texted her with such an 'intimate' text.

Also.. some are forgetting that there were other women that had the same claim and texts.

Fact is we don't know.. but both sides are labeling and casting concrete blame on either side that fits there bias.
