Offensive face mask called on runner

I saw this play on the highlights for this week

drew runs for 37 yards with a big stiff arm facemask and doesnt get called.

We had a call on our guy - for some reason the game/player evades me. Could be the atlanta game thou and our guy got called on a similar play ... why is that?

Wasn't it on a return? I can't remember who it was, either.

I think it was Shields on a return, but that shouldn't matter. Stiffarm =/= facemask.

Yea that was a bogus call on Shields. I can't remember seeing a call like that before.

The funny thing is, the day before that I was watching a high school football game and a player from the other team did a really aggressive stiffarm right into the facemask of one of our guys. There was no penalty, and a lot of fans grumbled, but I just said to my sister, "They never call a penalty for that." She agreed. Then the next day a Packer player got called for it!

there was no issue on MJD on his run... he pushed the guy away and he won
