The NFL has got to rope some of this nonsense in.. their mentality of more scoring and giving all the advantages to the offense is nonsense.

The Steeler / Ravens game last night was a hell of a game.. and it didn't need offensive bias to it.

So speak it.. do you enjoy points being piled up like cord wood or a well played defensive ball game?

Push and shove: Cornerback Tramon Williams wasn't exactly tickled to death with some of the tactics 49ers receiver Josh Morgan used against him.

Morgan was held without a catch, but he managed to get under Williams' skin.

"(No.) 84 was out there doing some things that the ref didn't see," Williams said. "He was doing all kinds of stuff."

Asked for an example, Williams recalled a play near the goal line where quarterback Troy Smith bootlegged to the right and overthrew a wide open Michael Crabtree in the end zone. That was Williams' man.

"But 84 came to the outside of me and he kind of got against me, trying to pick me all the way inside. He was doing little things, holding, all kinds of stuff. I guess you have to play through that stuff."

Williams said he pleaded with the officials for a flag, but couldn't get one.

"Actually what the ref told me was, 'I saw it,' " Williams said. "If you saw it, why didn't you throw the flag? What else can you say, if he said he saw it and didn't throw the flag?"

Let me put it like this...

The best game I've ever seen was the Dallas game last year. The sacks, the ints, the 3 and outs, the goalline stands... I've never watched such an exciting game.

As someone who's played defense in every single sport I've played, I find it a shame that they're doing all they can to get the scoring up the way they're doing.

I love a defensive game. Bone jarring hits. Tackles at the LOS. Diving in front of the receiver to knock the pass away.
there are so many great plays that go on in a game that the NFL has taken away in favor of TDs. It is sad.

If I'm watching the Packers I want it to be 50-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Otherwise, if I am a neutral viewer I love games where you end up with low to mid 20s. You have the offenses and defenses in such a tight battle that you just don't have any idea when someone will score but you know there's a chance every possession. The Ravens and Steelers games you just feel like every series is going to end in a punt and a 7-0 lead feels insurmountable. When you're talking low 20s you get a nice mix of sacks and turnovers but also deep passes or broken runs and hard fought 3rd downs. You get a little more back and fourth too.

With all due respect, I think the Packers get driven back too much on fourth. 😉

I feel the same way as Keys. I hate nail biters. I want the game over by half-time and from there on, I just want us to roll up stats and hopefully make our opponents lose their cool, especially if it's the Cows.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
