How about just being happy because "your" player is the best at a position accoding to the masses and the press, combined? I agree, it's more of a hypefest nowadays than an actual representation of their play, but still.
We're not boycotting All-Pro teams for some reason. They might be more objective, but I bet that the contract clauses on those are a lot bigger than the Pro Bowl ones.
Next to that, what do you think that actually makes the most impact on such a contract? Let's take Matthews, for instance. You think he'll want to get paid because he's on pace for 20.5 sacks or because he's been voted to a Pro Bowl?
The only thing it might do is trigger an escelator and give him another $100,000. Something I'm not too worried about.
And if you have a really undeserving player who does go to the Pro Bowl and does come back with ridiculous contract demands, you can just deny them, as obviously, he's not irreplacable, anyway.
One thing that does piss me off....
You'll only get 3-4 OLBs at the Pro Bowl and only 4-3 DEs. They should go under the same role. Justl like 3-4 DEs and 4-3 DTs should.
Next to that, make the game a game again. You can't bump, you can't blitz, you can't do shit. It looks ridiculous to have both Matthews and Ware on the field and see them dropping back every single play, because you can't bring anyoen but the d-linemen.
Oh, and another one... Eric Steinbach is leading Gs in voting. So Sitton, as well. Haven't seen that big a bullshit pick since the Redskins fans propelled their entire team to the top of the voting lists.
