Can I suggest we all vote for Bears and Vikings players to the pro bowl this year.

Getting players in the pro bowl just seems to cause problems.

It triggers contract bonuses, makes players harder to sign and gets players and their agents with years left on their deal want big money extensions.

And if the players are spurned it gives them a chip on their shoulder which can only help them play harder.

I proposed just such an idea last year. +1 to you, sir.

How about just being happy because "your" player is the best at a position accoding to the masses and the press, combined? I agree, it's more of a hypefest nowadays than an actual representation of their play, but still.

We're not boycotting All-Pro teams for some reason. They might be more objective, but I bet that the contract clauses on those are a lot bigger than the Pro Bowl ones.

Next to that, what do you think that actually makes the most impact on such a contract? Let's take Matthews, for instance. You think he'll want to get paid because he's on pace for 20.5 sacks or because he's been voted to a Pro Bowl?

The only thing it might do is trigger an escelator and give him another $100,000. Something I'm not too worried about.

And if you have a really undeserving player who does go to the Pro Bowl and does come back with ridiculous contract demands, you can just deny them, as obviously, he's not irreplacable, anyway.

One thing that does piss me off....

You'll only get 3-4 OLBs at the Pro Bowl and only 4-3 DEs. They should go under the same role. Justl like 3-4 DEs and 4-3 DTs should.

Next to that, make the game a game again. You can't bump, you can't blitz, you can't do shit. It looks ridiculous to have both Matthews and Ware on the field and see them dropping back every single play, because you can't bring anyoen but the d-linemen.

Oh, and another one... Eric Steinbach is leading Gs in voting. So Sitton, as well. Haven't seen that big a bullshit pick since the Redskins fans propelled their entire team to the top of the voting lists.

I use to watch the game in the 90's and maybe in the early 00's. But not for a long time. It is just not a real football game. Even the players know it and treat it as such. (Many skip the game. and so on.)
I don't vote for anyone because the voting system is stupid. I don't watch it. I don't even think about it.

Don't you know? The NFL isn't real. It's all a figment of Rockmolder's imagination. Whatever he thinks, happens.

You ever notice how he knows which team will draft who in the offseason?

I'm starting to think we're not real either, just all in Rock's head. Just be glad Rock didn't put you in Sweden. Or actually, be nice to him or else he will. :whipitgood:

Didn't Rock say we were gonna draft Jerry Hughes?

Or was that just an illusion he created in my head?

I refuse to pay attention to the Pro Bowl anymore. Season awards are supposed to be decided after the season, not with weeks left.

I see it as nothing more than an opportunity for professional colleagues to hang out, hobnob, network, whatever. Sort of like an scholarly conference for academics, except with scantily clad babes and fawning groupies.

All the power to the NFL players/coaches if they can finangle such a trip with their employers. But me? I could care less.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
