you are who you pretend to be. really? that is the biggest pile of bullshit i've heard in quite awhile. you are who you are - period.

FYI - Vick may never get big endorsements. He'll never get a corporate job. It's in his best interest to play in the NFL as long as he can as this is it. He won't exactly land a job in Hollywood as the animal rights people will physically block his appearances (I'm being serious here).

I'm not condoning what he did at all. There are times, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and some asswipe almost kills me or the guy in front of me, where I like dogs better than people.

But I'm under the impression the intent of this thread is about his ability, not his character. I'm sure I won't like the guy in person if I knew him. I'm only talking about his ability.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. My Raiders buddy here and I always joked that Michael Vick couldn't hit the side of a barn even if someone painted a big black X on it. Yet all of a sudden, he's the most accurate QB in the NFL. I'm wondering if this is really Michael Vick or some alien doppleganger. He runs like Michael Vick, yet he passes like '09 Brett Favre. WTF?

As the guy who wrote the "Michael Vick is not an elite QB" thread, I'm more confused than you are.

This may ruffle a few feathers, but if you want your kids to look up to athletes as role models, that's a parenting fail.

Athletes as role models? Really? What's next, telling your daughters they need to be more like Paris Hilton?

Well, there's something to be said for encouraging small-breasted women to wear low cut dresses. :)

Which, ISTM, is Paris Hilton's only virtue.

ahhh...now i see what you were saying. clearly i took it in a vastly different direction. my apologies.

and uh kev - you can say i'm nuts all i want but i feel how i feel. if you really read what i was saying, you'd realize that we actually feel the same way but we're approaching it from two different viewpoints.

i certainly wouldn't encourage my kids to worship a pro football player but i know MANY who do. since i'm in illinois, brian urlacher comes to mind right away - now THERE'S a class act - NOT!!

i said he paid his debt to society but if you honestly think i should feel sorry for this guy, it's just not gonna happen.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

I think you're honestly freaking nuts! I never once ever said you should feel sorry for him, never, not even the slightest implication of it.

I wouldn't ever say someone should HONESTLY feel sorry for a person playing a game and banking millions a year. I can try to understand their situation, but never would I feel sorry for them.

The whole role model thing for kids is what pisses me off. If parents did their god damn job, this wouldn't be a damn issue.

When my daughters do something wrong, I never once ever put it on someone else. I take the blame, I figured out what I did wrong, how I can do better.

If a parent notices their kid idolizing someone, they need to step up, check into that person, educate themselves on said person and follow through with educating their child.

I'm so sick of parents pushing blame for their kids mistakes on outside sources they claim to have 'no control' over.

There's a difference between "feisty" and being stubborn. For the record, I'd do both. :)

I think we should all trane our daughters in the Anna Nicole Smith mode. Gold dig off a gozillioner. Hell she gave that old bastard much more pleasure than those pantywaiste children of his. Anna Nicole is a true American success story, she maximized the gifts that the good lord gave her, and all the while giving self righteous assholes the bird.

dfosterf (2-Jan) : Hats off to the Beast
dfosterf (2-Jan) : I'm at 71.76% in pick 'em. 2nd place. Beast is at a flat 75% 9 games ahead. That 75% has got to be unprecedented this late in the season
beast (2-Jan) : I don't care deeply, just want some good entertaining games
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : BTW, not serious.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You don't care about it either!!!!
