to get it done in December and the playoffs? I am still not sure Kuhn and Bjack are the solution to the running game come the cold, wet weather and a good defensive team. Rodgers helped us out last night with his rushing as well, but 92 yards???

thoughts?

It is a concern, no doubt about it. But beginning with the Mike Holmgren regime, it seems like when the Packers have been good their running game has come together in the final weeks of the season, regardless of who they've had at RB. I'm hoping it happens again. Maybe we are seeing signs of it already with the pass blocking solidifying and Brandon Jackson running with a little more confidence.

I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about our running game. Bulaga and Sitton were moving the Cowboys DLine back off the ball nicely. They've been getting better and better each week as they get used to each other on the right side. Kuhn can pound it inside, but I don't think he has the speed to cut it outside if the inside is clogged. I'm interested in seeing how Starks pans out (if he gets activated, and doesn't get Harris-ed).

Hell no it's not enough, but Frickin ted Thompson wouldn't do anything about it, so just live with it, and deal with it.

I think it's too late to change a lot... but I don't think the Packers have much of a running game... and think they need to get them more involved in the short passing game.

Also I think because they did good against the Cowboys doesn't mean it's gotten any better. Other than maybe Jackson... he was more aggressive in his style of keeping his legs moving making cuts. But I think the blocking looked better just because it was the Cowboys.

Question - would you rather have 150 running yards or 45 points?

The answer to that question is the answer to your question. I don't care how we get the points. We win games by scoring. If it's 50 runs and 1 pass, cool. If it's 50 passes and 1 run, cool. Passing gives us our best chance of scoring.

As for our RBs, Jackson's blocking ability cannot be praised enough. His blocking is in the top 30% of what I've seen, and I've watched a lot of RBs since 1976. I'm very proud of him.

FYI - The Steelers won the SB two years ago with 58 total yards rushing. The Saints won the SB last year with even less. Should we take away their Lombardi trophies because they didn't get enough rushing yards?

Zombie-I agree with you it's the score that counts, but a running game helps get that score. For example, in the Dallas game, where we scored 45 points, we had 30 rushes (by the running backs, not counting AR's runs) and 34 passes. That's a MUCH more ballanced attack than McCarthy normally has. Having a credible run game that needs to be defensed helps out the passing game/makes your passing game better.

Macbob - On paper yes. In reality, all rules go out the window.

Weird tidbit, in the last 2 SBs, all 4 teams failed to get 100 yards rushing. 2 of them won. 2 of them lost.

We're averaging 101.something per game for the season so far, and it's improving. It'll be enough. IIRC, Rodgers didn't seem to have much trouble throwing in the cold last year...

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
