I'm not saying I would boo him necessarily, but I can certainly understand why one wouldn't cheer him. Time will mend things.
Also, a lot of people have lost respect for him. When a player is / was of the status of Favre, emotions run high on both sides of the coin, both good and bad. It doesn't really matter if it's fair or not. Life often isn't.
The best thing for Favre and Packer fans would be for him to just go away for awhile. But at this point, he is what he is, a talented division rival and defending NFC North Champion.
