Two things that have been bothering me all year:

1. Does anybody know what the rulebook says about having your tackles on the line of scrimmage? How far back can they line up and still be a legal formation?


2. What is the rule for movement by the offense before the snap? How come a twitch by the lineman is false start, but they can point across the line and look back to the qb on audibles?

Not sure about #1, but #2...........Offensive linemen are allowed to point out blocking assignments and turn heads to hear a play count or play change. They cannot move any part of the body that may signify that the play is starting, i.e. they can't jerk ever so slightly in the shoulders or torso.

Supposedly, but I don't see that called a lot. Just look at the 3 seconds in the lane rule in the NBA. Jeez, some guys camp out in there for hours.

Yes, they are SUPPOSED to be set for a second. But i think as long as it's not an obvious movement, the refs let them play.

If I recall correctly, players have to be on line with the center. The helmet of the tackle has to overlap the back on the center for the formation to be legal.

It is not 3 yards back, like Loadholt and McKinnie like to believe.
