But by the rules that should have been a 15 yd flag, I wonder if this will be explained why it wasn't. He took it off not like someone else did it. Just another thanks to the refs 🙂 I am sure our o-line was mugging the Vikes also but of course noone will admit to that.

To me we got a gift from the refs and that was that.

And by the rules mugging a defensive player in the face should be illegal hands to the face. Grabbing the facemask should be a facemask. The refs would have looked bad calling this one if the reason for him taking off his helmet was a penalty by Matthews' blocker.

It wasn't on the facemask play...he disenganged from the line and was running to the middle of the field to chase down the play.

It appeared that his helmet was sliding off/blocking his vision...but he was still lucky to get away with a penalty. Though I'll admit, it looked pretty bad ass having him whip that thing off and chase down the play :thumbleft:

It wasn't on THAT facemask play, but he got chokeholded and facemasked multiple times, so it could've been a possibility that that was the reason for his helmet blocking his vision.

Like I said, more speculation than anything else.

Loadholt held him more than he blocked him.

The refs let the teams play football though. They didn't call much against either side unless it was obvious, which I felt some holds and facemasks were on Matthews. He was definitely fed up by the non calls.

Yup.

Because, let's be honest here, Bulaga got away with some stuff, as well. I think I saw him do as much as taking Edwards in a chokehold on one play and it didn't get called.

There were other missed calls. The one where the AR pass was tipped and intercepted in the endzone SHOULD have been pass interference on the Queens before the ball got there. But no call.

as i see it cm was held numerous times, hands to the face a lot and when you can see that on t.v and I'm not saying bulaga didnt hold but dint see multiple face mask holds, and when he threw off his helmet i belive it was because he the vikes player pulled half way off that's why he just took all the way off,and still went on with the paly.

Removing Helmets on the Field During Play -- no player may remove his helmet while on the playing field. Doing so will result in a 15-yard Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. Exceptions are during timeouts and between quarters. (The NFL has done this in an effort to "reduce taunting and overexuberant celebrations" and also "in the name of safety.

I'm just saying it was obvious and should have been 15 yds. You stoop to calling me names because I answered the guys question so be it

Little side note NFL says that the ref was wrong by overturning the vikes td.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Clearly they didn't see it, just like the countless times they didn't call holding/facemask on whoever was blocking Matthews, the illegal contact on Walker on their second interception, the couple times we got away with holding. They let a lot of stuff go on both sides. It literally took someone decleating Matthews by his facemask for them to call it.

The rule about not taking off helmets has always been aimed at on-field celebrations, not at players taking their helmets off during plays, which is a rare occurrence for obvious reasons. In the past couple years, the NFL has dropped its emphasis on the rule, probably as a result of some penalties that occurred when players had their helmets knocked off accidentally. So the no-call on Matthews was not a surprise. And at least it gives dhazer another reason to claim that the Packers did not deserve to beat his hero.
