http://packersnews.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20101015/PKR01/101015125/Notebook-Despite-illegal-hit-Rodgers-probable-for-Sunday

Aaron Rodgers cleared the final hurdle for playing Sunday by practicing for the second straight day on Friday, the same day the NFL admitted a flag should have been thrown on the hit that gave the Green Bay Packers quarterback a concussion.

A league spokesman said Redskins defensive end Jeremy Jarmon was fined $5,000 for roughing the passer during last Sundays loss at Washington, saying Jarmon unnecessarily struck the QB in the head area.

On that play in overtime, Rodgers threw an interception that helped set up the Redskins game-winning field goal. A flag from referee Gene Steratore would have wiped out the interception and given the Packers a first down at their 39-yard line.

At least the hit wont end Rodgers streak of consecutive games played. He hasnt missed a start since he took over as the Packers starter in 2008. After practicing on Thursday (limited participation) and Friday (full participation), although neither was in full pads, Rodgers was listed as probable for Sundays game against Miami at Lambeau Field.

During the portion of practice open to reporters, Rodgers took every snap with the starting offense.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers has passed all the post-concussion tests mandated by the NFL.

From my perspective, I would say hes ready to go, McCarthy said. But ultimately, its a medical decision. Unless theres any type of setback between now and the game, I anticipate Aaron to play on Sunday.

Matt Flynn, the only other quarterback on the roster, took all the snaps during Wednesdays practice, and unless something changes, it doesnt appear the Packers will promote Graham Harrell from the practice squad.

Thats what you have between now and game time to make those decisions, McCarthy said. An option if were concerned about it would be to bring Graham up (Saturday). We do have a third quarterback package in place. Those are really our two options.

Another illegal hit, not called.

I'm liking my little theory. 😛

Here we go again.

An illegal play on the QB costs the Pack again.

What a shock.

Not as costly as the Cards playof game but it still cost us. That would have been 15 yards and nearer to a Crosby FG attempt.

We should keep count of these as a team and use them to motivate the players.

We despite our ever mounting injury list are 3 -2 and beaten by a last second FG and an O/T Fg in two away games that the refs fecked up big style.

Conspiracy theory.

Go figure................

Despite all that thank God A-Rod is fit to play Sunday.

My son for some reason only known to himself is a Phins fan. My freind Carl (a fellow Pack Fan)is coming up to watch the match as SKY TV in the UK are finally showing a Packer game live this season (first time I will watch a packers game on my 42" TV) and we will be giving him hell all game.

Blaming the refs is an excuse.

The Skins game was frustrating for sure, but just because they missed so many holding calls on their OL. They also missed a couple of PI/Illegal Contact fouls on our side.

In the Bears game, the refs blew calls both ways, all the time.

It all evens out.

i think nobody here is giving th blame to refs fore the losses..we played far from how we can play...the point is...the have to threat rodgers how they they threat cutler with the helmet to helmet that cost us the game...i still have to forget the big facemask on rodgers in the philly game...i dont remember any penalty calls called on rodgers...

this is a game where one call can determitate win or loss...the refs are human but there is a limit...and i dont want mention the warning given on woodson before the wild card game...i dont see the packs as a diry team...any time i see jared allen playing i see a great player but really dirty and he is never called for anything

At least there is some good news. Rodgers most likely will play. If he is in then we have a chance. With him out I give us no chance.

I don't think one player can be credited for a loss, just like I don't think ref's can be blamed for a loss. Those are small but important aspects to each game.

I think one player can win a game, but one player can not be the reason for the loss.

Either way. I'd love for us to win a goddamn overtime game for once.

This,

maybe I'm missing something in the replay, but I though the defender did everything he reasonably could to pull up and avoid impact with A R. I think the fine is B S and just a make up call from the AZ game.

Watch it again. When you are avoiding hitting a player, you do not tilt head down at the player you are avoiding. 🙂
