I didn't notice the helmet-to-helmet contact when the play occurred, nor did I notice it on the replay. I didn't see it until I heard that it happened, then saw the replay again. It was not an obvious infraction. The one at the end of the playoff loss in Arizona happened amid the chaos of a fumble, so that was not an obvious one either.

The refs are on a hair trigger about making that helmet to helmet call, so I really don't think they intentionally overlooked it in either case.

According to NFL guidelines for head injuries, Rodgers must be symptom-free and cleared by a team doctor and independent neurological consultant before he can play again.



I know that these guidelines are there to make sure that players don't go out there while still being under the effect of a concussion... But I really doubt how much they can still see when you're in the later parts of the recovery.

I really hope that they're not throwing him out there for the sake of winning this one game, while he still has problems with his consussion.

And that he doesn't want to prove something.

But that was a scramble play where rodgers ran outside the pocket. He leaves himself open to taking shots.

Arguably he was running outside the pocket to buy the time that the OL wasn't giving him. Or MM called it specifically for that reason.

UPDATE:

Good news folks.

Ive gone through the process that the NFL requires, Rodgers said. Ive been cleared by our doctors, by an outside source. And I think its just a matter of how I feel (Friday).

So Rodgers has been cleared by an outside source, which most likely means an independent doctor (doctor who's not employed by us).

I never thought for one minute he was going to miss any time. This team just needs to quit stepping on their own dick. And we all need to relax and enjoy the ride.
