What would you think of us picking up Jamaal Charles? Laugh now, but wait a couple weeks.

I'd laugh out of joy if we'd get him.

Normally I'd say that there's no way. He's one of the up-and-coming guys in the league. We don't yet know if he can be a 300 carries per year back, but he's been very impressive in the amount of time that he's been given.

That said, it's Scott Pioli's team. For some reason, he uses Charles as a change of pace back, with Thomas Jones carrying the load. I can see how you want that pounding runner as your main guy, but when you have a guy as talented as Jamaal... Maybe he just doesn't see it that way.

And that could work in the favour of a team trying to make a trade for him.

I still think that it's going to cost too much for Ted, though. I'd pull the trigger if I could get him for a 2nd, which should be a decently late 2nd rounder in our case. Even if he can't carry the load fully, he'll be an amazing change of pace guy when Grant does come back next year.

What if Charles isn't a favorite of the staff and the staff wants to use the rookie as their primary RB and keep Jones for another year and draft a more pounding back to replace Charles?

This was just from a fan of course, no real sources, but that's what he said he's heard or whatever, so its probably poop talkin.

Thinking about it, it "kind" of makes sense. Dexter is not a 350 carry back and do you want two slashers in your backfield that could be injured easier than one slasher and one more physical back?

Was Jamal drafted by Scott Pioli?

Would it make sense for them to use Dexter as their 1, then use the draft pick received for Charles for a more physical back in the draft?

The difference for a back to look good is fractions of a second. If the line opens a hole in .6 seconds and the back gets to the hole in .5. Not going anywhere. Sometimes getting behind a different line just works because of the timing.

Is this how this forum is going to be until week 6? Name every good #2 running back in the league and say we should trade for them?

Starting it up with Mcgahee in baltimore, now Charles in KC, next we're gonna hear about mike tolbert in san diego and that guy behind benson in cincy whos name escapes me atm.

come on folks

The Chiefs are not getting rid of Jamaal Charles. He's one of their best offensive players.

Ray Rice hasn't been that good this year. As a consequence, Willis is getting carries from him. No way Baltimore trades him.

Mortenson, I believe it was, reported not that long ago that a fourth rounder gets McGahee. I also recall that he referred to the Packers probably having a hard time resisting that.

So this is a player, whom has been on the market and can be had tomorrow.

I worry about whether he's loss it, but a fourth rounder isn't a lot.

Furthermore, McGahee has faced three really tough defenses this season in the Bengals, Jets and Steelers. Browns are quietly improving too. I think you put him in an offense where you have to respect the pass, he does better. Certainly, better than Jackson.

Charles isn't going anywhere.

I would be content with that trade. I think he would fit our offense well. I just have doubt that this will ever happen.
