I thought Hawk played well today as well. It usually seems to me that he is not that fast on the field, but on one play in the second half he was sent on a stunt blitz around the outside of the left tackle and absolutely flew around him on his way to the QB. Unfortunately Hill saw him coming and dumped it to the RB in the flat, but I was amazed at how fast Hawk moved on the play. Other than that it seemed like Hawk and Woodson were the Packers defense yesterday.

I grill Hawk repeatedly and often.. but that first half was some of the best ball he has played in a while here.

He like just about every backer on the roster bit on the screen and dump offs.. but that is more a product of over aggressiveness than anything.. and IMO, I would rather have those dogs hunting than sitting back and tentative.

Lions dialed up those screens effectively.. that double screen to Pettigrew was impressive.. a double same side screen.. you just don't see that... we sealed up Best so they dumped inside to Pett..

On that double screen Hawk was blitzing and it seemed like the moment he passed Pettigrew he knew what the play was. He ended up making the tackle 10 yards downfield, but he had to turn around first and play chase.

Detroit did a very good job against the blitz. Green Bay seemed intent on taking away the deeper routes. Unfortunately this led to gain after gain over the middle.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

People are always hating on Hawk. He's not flashy but he does what he needs to do and gets himself in position to make solid plays. Today was a testament to that. On a day when the rest of the D looked limp two vets stepped up and had very solid performances respectively. Is it too bad he isn't a Clay Matthews, yeah it is, but he put up a game today comparable to last year's D player of the year. Hawk is the definition of solid and something every team needs.

Buckeye - Thanks for the summary. Yeah, I know I don't think he deserved it either but it still happened. Bummer circumstance. A-, I agree. I'd give him the same grade. He put up a fine performance.

Silentio - I don't. I've been a Hawk defender. I put him a hair under Solid. Nick Barnett is Solid. CM3 is a Pro Bowler. Those 3 alone and you have a good LB corps.

I don't know if there is a poster here that bangs on Hawk more than I... I just get worked up on what he could be.. because I have seen it. Early in his career here and in college.. and at times flashes like yesterday.

He, Hawk is a solid Linebacker.. plays a little too reactionary at times.. but solid player.

Where the rub for me comes is that he has all the physical tools to be much more..

It's time for a buzz cut. Just look how good Mia and I look.

Either that or I have to call him a gelding before ever game like this one.

Maybe he will be worth $10M next year.

Hawk did have a nice game. His biggest problem is over perusing. He seems to react to plays a little too early and is caught out of position sometimes. Overall Hawk had a great performance this week.

dfosterf (6m) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (6m) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (9m) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (12m) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (14m) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (14m) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (17m) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (18m) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (19m) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (49m) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (49m) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (49m) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (2h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (2h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (2h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (18h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
