Do people realize that Marshawn Lynch has, once again, begun starting games at RB for the Bills.

I do not know too many teams that are keen on trading their starting RB.

lol +1exactly what I was going to say.

But we are going to need a better back than Lynch with our o-line getting as little push as it is now. We really need to fix the o-line problem first before we put all of our hopes in a RB. Don't get me wrong I'd love a sexy new back, but I also know there are few RB's out there that will impress with our current line, er, current holders and false starters.

You could also say that Lynch's PT skyrocketed from the packers game on, which in my mind looks like there just trying to get as much trade value as possible at this point.

John Clayton on the radio today mentioned that it would only take a 4th rounder to get Lynch. No trade, just a 4th rounder straight up. That I could live with. I'm not sold on dumping player depth we need (Hawk and Bigby both) for a mediocre RB that I don't believe would solve any problem.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. But then again, I don't know how Starks is looking.
As for Bigby, bulk him up and try him at OLB.

Which makes little sense considering that the NFL is such a physical game, and "showcasing" him means exposing him just as much - if not more - to injury every snap he takes. That is to say, the risk of getting nothing (Lynch being lost to injury) is just as much as Lynch showing himself worthy of a third rounder or higher.

The value of Lynch depends more so on the market, which has been set with Lawrence Marooney going for a fourth to the Broncos. At the very least, the Bills know they will be getting a third because Lynch > Marooney.

And Bob McGinn reported in his Insider column last week that every call the Packers have made to the Bills regarding Lynch (dating back to the off-season) has been met with a "we're not interested in trading him" remark from the Bills new GM. And McGinn implied that we are talking about a few calls having been made, not just one or two.

Here is McGinn's exact text from this article:

This Bills administration doesn't seem the least bit interested in trading Marshawn Lynch.

Sources say the Bills have heard from the Packers several times dating to before the draft, most recently about two weeks ago. But on each occasion the Bills have closed the door on the Packers' exploratory efforts, long before anything substantive might have taken place.

Through his assistants, Bills general manager Buddy Nix has informed the Packers he's keeping Lynch. The Packers can't even get to first base.

FYI, the Bills new GM spent the last few years under Chargers' GM AJ Smith. It is obvious that when it comes to dealing with players wanting a trade, Smith is one of the toughest people to bargain with - both as player and another team. I'm sure the Bills new GM has spent a moment or two getting versed in Smith's negotiation playbook.

Buffalo needs secondary help. Offer them Bigby, or offer them a 2nd round pick. Lynch is worth a 2nd rounder

Why would they want a fifth borderline starter quality safety?

I mean Jarius Byrd is a clear cut starting safety, but Donte Whitner, George Wilson and Bryan Scott are all low-end starter, high-end backup type guys. Safety is their second deepest position.

A 4th for Lynch should be a no-braner. I would even consider a 2nd and a 4th, I believe a quality RB is that important to us-now. We don't need another good player in camp next year just so we can cut another good player. The only exception to this is if I had a crystal ball and I knew one of those picks would turn out to be a very good CB. I don't have one so I would trade.

No way I would give a 2nd and a 4th for a RB. Hey, I like Lynch too. I actually saw him in real life get 3 TDs, 2 receiving and one rushing. He was fun to watch (Cal).

But let's wait until that new kid Sparks shows up and see what he has to offer. Nance may turn out to be good too. We don't know yet. I don't want to trade our future for our present when I sincerely think we can win a SB with Kuhn and Jackson back there.

Bigby I want to keep. He's a good backup. You want depth going into the postseason. I don't know how many times we've been burned by not having depth in the postseason. Anyone old enough to remember the Sherman years?
