I don't know if I disagree with disallowing the child to run the sidelines. You can't have 40k kids or how ever many running up and down the field.

The Twins let every kid in the stadium that wants to run the bases after each home game. I don't think it would be that detrimental to the field.

I would NOT stop my child from the experience, but I would pay close eye on her, then again, I'm probably over protective. Getting old sucks, it's made me overly cautious as a parent, lol.

But that is just the point.. you would be there watching them attentively, as most parents that have taken the time to take their child to an event as such.

An abduction by a stranger is incredibly unlikely ANYWHERE. Do you know approximately how many children are abducted in this country every year by people other than their own non-custodial parents?

A whopping 110.

And over 70% of them are girls, which I happen to have a girl. And you should throw those statistics at someone who's lost their child to an abduction, I'm sure that will make them feel SO much better. Go ahead, give it a whirl. Continue to make it sound like abduction is not a worry. Tell that to the father who watched his daughter walk to the bus stop, car pulls up, snags the daughter and doesn't see her for decades. Tell him hey its unlikely to happen.

I think it weak to worry about an abduction after a game, in which NFL/stadium security stays put until the fans have left the stadium.

Liability concerns I could see.. but not abduction concerns.

Now.. with all the media types and equipment could be a concern.. and not so much with the Twins as who cares, the place is empty most of the time. ;)

You've never came back to your desk after a meeting went over an hour longer than scheduled to find 19 missed calls, 12 voice mails, 7 of which are your 9 year old daughter crying her eyes out saying "daddy help me, please help me i dont know where i am".

An abduction in a stadium isn't likely, sure (which is all the more reason why it could happen because its NOT expected), but neither is a bus driver forcing a 9 year old off the bus after she is crying saying "this isnt my stop". But, guess what, it did happen this past Thursday.

It's my understanding it was a sub driver and they will not be subbing anywhere in the area again. They refused to give me the persons name, not sure why. Probably a good thing though. They said it was not proper protocol and assured me it will never happen again.

I would still have her run the sidelines at Lambeau Field. Since we got to Colorado, she's taking a warming to the Packers.

Meh? Empty most of the time? Forgive me if I misunderstand you, but the Twins have set a single-season attendance record for the franchise with over 3 million people that passed through the turnstiles. Target Field is FAR from empty. 🙂
