I know this is going to piss people off, but I am a diehard Yankees fan. I already have tickets lined for some of the Yankees vs Red Sox games. Totally pumped to watch the Yanks go for #28! :D

Baseball:
1. A sport where you get millions of dollars to run in circles.
2. A sport where "relief" is to be found in "bull" pens.
3. A sport that brags about being "past" its "time".
4. A sport that where people get paid for "stealing."
5. A sport where men call their poles "foul."
6. And spit on their balls.
7. Whenever they're not rubbing them up.
8. Or hitting them with a bat.
9. And a sport where a "double play" is something bad.
10. Even worse than a "strikeout".

What a weird game.
:)

Well, baseball season is right around the corner. The Springfield Cardinals  start on April 8th, and the St. Louis Cardinals start April 5th.

To all of the other baseball fans here that are not Cardinals fans, I feel sorry for you. (Except for the Cubs fans. I don't feel sorry for them.)

"Formo" wrote:

That's too bad. I'd hate to have the Cubbies crush your dreams. 🙂 I'm not even going to bring up the Twins.. They've owned the entire NL the past two years. In fact, I think they have the best interleague record since the inception. I'll have to look into that.

Anyway, I see that the Twins open up Target Field for the first time against your Cards (April 2-3, 2010).. You gonna make a trip? If you do, let me know, we'll have to get tickets together!

Are people up there pretty excited about having an outdoor field now?

I didn't know StL was going to be at Target in April. The 2nd is my and my wife's anniversary. Her sister and family live in the Twin Cities area. We were talking about going up for a Twins-ChiSox game this year. Maybe we will go to one of these games instead.

"Formo" wrote:

I think it's the final spring training/exhibition games. No tickets are available now, so not sure how one would go about getting them..

I don't know about the general consensus, but I'm excited as all Hell about the outdoor stadium. If Chi-Town can have not one, but TWO outdoor parks, so can Minneapolis. Some people are bitchy about it. I tell them to leave the tickets for the real fans then. Like me. lol

If either one of you are looking to go, let me know!

I am sure ticks will be online within a few weeks. Hopefully they will be priced like preseason games.

I actually enjoy telling "Yankee Haters" that I'm a Yankee fan, mainly because I love getting in sports related arguments. People bring up how the Yankees spend so much money, but I bring up that so many other owners can afford to pay big bucks, but they are more concerned with how much their wallet weighs instead of doing everything possible to put the best product on the field. The teams that complain about spending (Marlins) are the same teams that pocket the luxury tax the Yankees give them instead of using that money to pick up free agents.

I don't mind the Yankees at all. Although I am glad the Cardinals don't spend as much as the Yankees. (keeps concession/ticket prices down)

What pisses me off is teams like the Royals and Pirates, who refuse to spend any money to improve their teams. The Pirates have not had a winning record since 1990. That is pathetic. I do wish MLB would come up with some sort of salary cap. The concession/ticket prices are getting out of control.

The Yankees make a TON of money off of their television network, the YES Network. I do agree that tickets and concessions are high right now for the Yankeesm but hopefully after the team makes up the money lost in making the new stadium. Besides, everyone knows not to eat a hotdog at Yankee Stadium. ;)

Sad excuses for teams like the Pirates and Marlins are the ones to blame. Every year these teams trade away young superstars for nowhere near fair value just so they can avoid paying them. The Yankees have capitalized on this by picking up players such as Xavier Nady and only giving away players who will have a hard time finding major league rosters.

I'll keep an eye for those tickets and how to get some. I'm with you on the prices.. Although I'm sure they'll jack it up a bit as it would be the first bit of ball they play in the new digs.

Ok, Cards fans.. Any of you planning to make a trip up to the Twin Cities April 2nd and/or 3rd? WPR? Just saw something on tv that the tickets for the exhibition games at Target Field go on sale this Tuesday, the 23rd.

Prices are here..

Looks like the prices are not priced at the same rate as a regular game, but still more than the Dome (but the seating is much different too). I honestly don't care what the prices are, I still am serious about going. I just want to make sure anyone else is serious as well before I try to reserve seats. The tickets are only available online from what I hear, and the Twins said that they'll probably go fast, so I want to jump on it on Tuesday. I'll also talk to my dad and mom and see if they would want to go.. I'm thinking that if I don't hear from anyone here by the end of Tuesday I'm going to order 4 tix (my wife, parents and myself).

Soo.. Who's in and how many?

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice

packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
