The case:

Link

As the author of a leading sports law textbook told ESPN.com, the Court's decision in American Needle "could easily turn out to be the most significant sports law decision ever."

NFP article:

NFP- Arguments begin; American Needle

So it isnt that easy just to overrule the Eighth Circuits decision, as the Solicitor General of the United States and the NFLPA in its friend-of-the-court briefs advocate.

Your President's appointee:

wiki- Elana Kagan

On January 5, 2009, President-elect Barack Obama announced he would nominate Kagan to be Solicitor General.[8] Before this appointment she had limited courtroom experience. She had never argued a case at trial.

Her name was briefly mooted to replace Summers as president of Harvard.[5] During her deanship, Kagan supported a long-standing policy barring military recruiters from campus, because she felt that the military's Don't ask, don't tell discriminated against homosexuals.

The Obama administration is arguing against the NFL. If the position of the Obama administration is upheld, there will not only be no NFL as you know it, there will be no sports leagues in this country as you know it.

Just a shoutout to all that voted these people into office. Thanks. Thanks for nothing but grief....NON might not think this crowd isn't "liberal enough", but I damn sure do....It's a GD outrage, leave the f#cking NFL ALONE -- PINKO'S!

LUCKILY--- Their position is so outside the mainstream of legal thought it is believed the NFL will prevail in this case. If the NFL doesn't you heard about it here first. Change we can believe in LOL. The commies are f#cking with my football now..I can only tolerate so much.

Someone explain to me how the nomination for Solicitor General of the United States of a lawyer who's never argued a case in court is confirmed by Congress.

Nothing surprises me anymore. Why, recently I read that a couple sneaked into the White House without any real credentials...Have you seen the pic?

:thumbleft: OK, that's wrong (political stuff)for an NFL discussion, but damnit, so is this President for f#cking with my NFL. He started it. :tongue3:

One further point to ponder as this flies under the radar.

Two excerpts from the NFP article.

A decision likely will not be issued until April or May -- talk about a long replay review.

It is likely that both sides are waiting for this decision to come down before reaching any serious agreement on their future.

That looks alot like no serious deal is even remotely possible between the NFL and the NFLPA until this case is settled.

He was appointed in January 2003 by President George W. Bush and resigned in September 2005.

Remember Katrina...Good ol Brownie's qualifications....for a job where people lives are in need.. He was a freakin' horse judge!

Before joining the DHS/FEMA, Brown was the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association, (IAHA), from 1989-2001.

Carry on with the original discussion :downtown:

By the way Dave, I've got a new expression that I use at work....whenever someone says something totally obscure and senseless, I just tell them "You're such a dfosterf".
What's really funny is that everyone understands what I mean by that!

How'd that work for them? Last time I checked they were all voted out of office.

It is obvious no one understands what I'm talking about, or these SOB's wouldn't be running the show....

I don't mind, all I can do is try and inform. Those that wish to debate it are welcome to.

I can see it now.

"Oh, snap...I didn't know I was voting for THAT kinda crap!"

I don't know how I feel about this case, but I do know I'm against commies and pinkos because they took over the world in a red tide in the early 20th Century, and that was a nightmare, so I guess I agree with dfosterf.

By the way, this decision is GOOD for us. Don't be shocked that a branch of the government actually helped free the market for once.

bboystyle (12h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (15h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks

Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other

Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
Zero2Cool (20-Dec) : There is a rule that if your name starts with 'b' you lose 15 points. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them!
wpr (20-Dec) : and then there is Beast. Running away with it all.
beast (20-Dec) : As of tonight, 3 way tie for 2nd in Pick'em, that battle is interesting!
beast (20-Dec) : Lions vs Vikings could be the main last game as it could determine division winners or #1 vs #2 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Apparently, the editing is what pieces comments together. That Ted thing ... fake news.
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.
Mucky Tundra (19-Dec) : Kyle Shanahan on signing De'Vondre Campbell as a FA last offseason: “We obviously made a mistake.”
packerfanoutwest (19-Dec) : Alexander’s last season with GB
Martha Careful (18-Dec) : if I were a professional athlete, I would probably look to see who the agent is for Kirk Cousins and then use him
beast (18-Dec) : $100 million fully guaranteed Kirk Cousins gets benched for rookie
    Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
    packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : whiteout uniforms in general are pretty lame and weak. NFL greed at it's worst
Martha Careful (17-Dec) : The Viking uniforms, the whiteout uniforms specifically absolutely suck
beast (17-Dec) : Thanks Zero2Cool, looks a lot better now
beast (17-Dec) : Seems like someone has a crush on me, can't stop talking about me
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : Should be gooder now. The forum default theme went to goofy land.
    Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : What the hell
packerfanoutwest (17-Dec) : yeah beast hates the Winter Warning Unies
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Okay I'm glad to know it's not just something happening to me lol
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Zero, did you copy the Packers uniforms from last night and white out the board?
beast (16-Dec) : Oh crap, is the board going to the Winter Warning Uniforms too?!? It's all white on white right now!
