Sarcasm off now, here's my take:

Rodgers>Favre

26 year old Favre is way better than 26 year old Rodgers.

40 year old Favre is a little better than 26 year old Rodgers even in his wide open offense that is geared to make a QB a star.

1995 season Favre? That man was on fire. Can't argue much with that. Although he wasn't way better. He was slightly better.

I don't know if 40 year old Favre is better than Rodgers.

And I'm pretty sure that second season Favre wasn't even close to Rodgers. Not by a long shot.

Rodgers is not Favre

Favre is not Rodgers

Why is it so hard to leave it at that. I feel pretty lucky to have seen Favres entire Packer career, and now Rodgers. And back Dickey before that.

I say way better. Look at the offense they ran back then vs the wide open spread they run today. I just don't see Rodgers putting up 39 td's in that offense back then, or anyone else in the nfl today for that matter. No way, IMO. Lots of I formation, 2 back sets, 2 receivers and 1 or 2 TE's, less down field options.

Also, this was Rodgers 5th season. Favre playing those first 2 or 3 years only forced him to go through the growing pains while trying to win games and make the playoffs, which he did. There is much evidence that a good qb who sits and watches will perform very well when given his chance and avoid growing pains. Top of my head, Hasselbeck, Rodgers, Cassell, S. Young, Culpepper.

No Favre wasn't way better in 95. Better maybe, but even that is debatable. Favre was/Rodgers is pretty damn good though.

The offense then was much more QB friendly. It was classic WCO with slants and curls. Favre hadn't learne to spread the ball around yet. He still was single WR fixated on Brooks that year with 102 catches. 96 was the first year he really spread the ball around.

There's one thing a lot of people don't realise about Rodgers.

This is his second starting season and first playoff game.

How many QBs can throw for 4 TDs, run another one in and come back 21 points, in their first playoff game? It's something special, and takes a guy like Rodgers to make us forget that really, we have no business expecting so much out of a 2nd year starter. But the fact that it's Rodgers, and we do, is the ultimate respect I can pay that man. That we are so comfortable with him, that we expect such greatness irrespective of the experience he has, always being compared to Favre, is rare indeed.

"TheEngineer" wrote:

Exactly. Not only that, when you have a 128 rating and lead your team to 45 points, you're SUPPOSED to win the game.

Our O was superb. Our D sucked. Simple as that.

The best thing for Rodgers to do is to keep doing what he's doing.

Agreed with both posters. Let's be honest if Favre was the QB we would surely see 2-3 other picks knowing that he would only be airing it out specially the ones that his almost going to get sacked.

Rodgers accuracy is unbelievable.

To answer the question of the subject line.

What Rodgers needs to do is:
1. Spend a month in Tahiti with women wearing little clothing and drinking drinks that come in a pineapple with little umbrellas.
2. Report on time for minicamp.

Nothing else.

I really thought all the Favre/Rodgers stuff would be done by now. What is left to be said that hasn't been said a hundred times already? I don't think it matters who our QB was yesterday. We don't win that game with the D we put on the field.
