Rolle Wants No Part Of Aaron Rodgers Again

Posted by Mike Florio on January 11, 2010 12:58 AM ET

Cardinals safety Antrel Rolle got a taste of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday, a week after facing him in Week 17.

And Rolle has no interest in a third helping.

"Let me tell you something - that dude is scary," Rolle said of Rodgers, per Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. "We have a great defense, and we were up on him and ready to pounce, and he found ways to tear us apart.

"I don't ever want to face him again in my life. I am dead serious. I'll face Drew Brees any day of the week before I face him again."

Rolle gets his wish on a day coming later this week, when the Cardinals go to New Orleans for a division-round playoff game.

(And we've got a feeling someone will share Rolle's observations with Brees.)

Though the compliment likely won't do much to make Packers fans feel better about a bad season turned good but bad, Rodgers seems to be doing a great job of replacing Brett Favre. And Rodgers has plenty of football left in him.

i literally came back on here to post this R.P....you beat me to the punch.

Fitzgerald and one of their other cbs had great things to say about ar as well.

When a defense compliments you like that it's pretty impressive!

Not that this means much at all, but Reggie White made reference to Brett Favre's toughness as a reason why he signed with the Packers. I'm sure money played a factor too, but perhaps now that Aaron Rodgers has established himself and showed great perseverance in this game, free agents may want to take a strong look at the Pack. If that's a direction Ted Thompson goes in.

Shawn Merrimen is a player I hope was watching. I'd give a 2nd round pick for him in a heartbeat and reports say San Diego was thinking of moving him in the off-season. They have a lot of guys to lock up.

Well, if he never wants to play against Rodgers again, the only thing he can do about that is sign with us. Maybe he's hinting at that.. ahaha.

I doubt it. And I really don't think we need a short-term solution at CB. We have an amazing starting 3 and quite some depth behind that. Getting 3 corners on IR will hit every team this hard, most likely even harder.

I'd like that, as well. He didn't come back too strong so far, but that should only drop the price a little. I think that he'll come back strong this season. He's exactly what we need opposite of Matthews. That said, I don't know if the Chargers are going to trade him away. I hope so, but I have my doubts.

As to the main thread... This does make you feel a little better somehow. To know that this kid is getting some recognition around the league. Evidence that he's a good player is heaping. People like Dhazer are turning around.

If we add just a little to this team, we'll be SB contenders. And we'll be just that for quite a while, with the young team we have in place.

Zero2Cool (28-May) : Love says knee affected him all season, groin injury didn't help matters.

Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
