per PFT

Brian Cushing does, with 39 1st place votes. Jarius Byrd get 6 1st place votes. Clay came in third with three 1st place votes. Oh well, he's a stud.

Wow. 39 for Cushing. That's an overwhelming victory.

dude made a LOT of tackles this year, and an admirable number of sacks and interceptions for a linebacker. He deserved to win, but that doesn't diminish what Matthews does for our team.

I had no idea Cushing had the stats he did. That's incredible, and I can see now why he deserved to win.

yeah, you can't exactly argue AGAINST cushing getting it. Matthews will get his credit when he's DPOY within the next 5 years šŸ™‚

Cushing showed more of an overall game over Matthews, IMO deserved to win the award based on his overall game.

Now that is not a slight to Matthews.. I just think they are different players.. but I think Matthews future is very very bright.. he needs to add a couple more moves to his pass rushing arsenal and he will anchor one side of this 3-4 for years.

Probably the best class of linebackers to come out in any year in a long time.. and three from the same school.

Maybe if Clay had started every game, he would of had the same numbers. Granted early on in the season, the players were will getting adjusted to the 3-4 scheme.

Oh well. Clay's still a beast and we all know it. Now if Woodson gets screwed out of the Defensive Player of the Year award...there's going to be trouble.

Woody should have a better chance, now that he's gotten 9 Ints and 3 returns, same as Sharper I believe. Will just be a question of Woodson or Revis...

Probably for the best.

I'd rather Clay plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder than gets a big ego from all the adulation he's going to be getting.

Of course he seems to be about as grounded and down to earth as a rookie can be so most likely no danger of that happening anyway.

hopefully the fact that his old teammate "beat" him serves to motivate Clay to get a DPOY before Cushing does.
